!!! SPOILERS !!!
If you do not want to know the types of tea or order that the teas come up in this advent calendar than don’t read any further 🙂
Alright, here we are, day 4 of the 24 Days of Tea advent calendar! I know, I know…yesterday was the 4th day of the calendar. I realized right as I was about to go to sleep that I hadn’t posted this one. Oops! My bad…oh well. Nothing I can do about it now can I?
For those of you who don’t know, this is a loose leaf tea advent calendar made by the Canadian tea company, David’s Tea. Each day has a different tea flavour that comes in a little tin and can make about 2-3 cups of tea per day. It is my mom who drinks the tea so these will be her opinions about the tea itself. Let’s see what we had today (which was really yesterday)…
Ready for spring break? Try this sweet, citrusy cocktail of oranges, tangerines and lemongrass. It’s got hibiscus and beetroot to turn it a natural shade of hot pink, plus blackberry leaves for a sunny burst of Vitamin C, apple and carrot for extra sweetness, and eucalyptus leaves for kick. Sound irresistible? Try it iced. In a martini glass. With a splash each of cointreau and gin. And a paper umbrella. Caffeine-free.
Ingredients: Hibiscus blossoms, apple pieces, carrot flakes, blackberry leaves, eucalyptus leaves, lemongrass, beetroot pieces, freeze-dried tangerine/orange slices and artificial flavouring.
How to Prepare: 1.25 tsp, 96°C (205°F), 4-7 minutes
This was one of the teas from their spring line, I believe, and it is adorable! This is another herbal fruit infusion tea that I wasn’t sure she would like but she thought she had read about it on the website before and had been interested in it.
I just love how bright and colourful this mix looked after it was steeped. Even though I don’t drink tea, I think it is nice that you can pick out individual ingredients that make up the tea.
Another beautiful, hot pink tea! Mom seems to really like when they are pink, it just makes it more fun! She really liked this one again. We have had quite a bit of success with this calendar so far, and that makes me really happy! Mom made me try a sip of this, and although it wasn’t horrible, tea just isn’t my thing. I so badly wanted to say it isn’t my cup of tea, but I thought that might just be sad…
I did suggest to her that this might be nice as a sweetened iced tea, but apparently the thought of sweetening this up with sugar is appalling to her. I didn’t think it was such a bad idea.
Sorry again that this wasn’t up in time, and I’m going to be a little of track for a couple of days probably. We went to a concert tonight and we both work tomorrow so I’m not sure when we will make up the extra day of tea we have right now.
I will try and post Day 5 soon for everybody!
As a side note that many of you may not care about, but I did want to say it. Something happened with my blog today. I hadn’t shown it to my family because I was afraid they would think it was stupid, or judge me for all the money I spend (which probably still will happen). My dad told me that he had told someone he works with about it and they found my page. He also told me that he read a little bit and was proud, and that really meant a lot to me. So I would just like to say that if you are reading this Dad, hi and thank you 🙂
