!!! SPOILERS !!!
If you do not want to know the types of tea or order that the teas come up in this advent calendar than don’t read any further 🙂
For those of you who don’t know, this is a loose leaf tea advent calendar made by the Canadian tea company, David’s Tea. Each day has a different tea flavour that comes in a little tin and can make about 2-3 cups of tea per day. It is my mom who drinks the tea so these will be her opinions about the tea itself. Let’s see what we had today:
Just about every grandma has a secret recipe for special occasions. For David’s Bubbie, it’s baklava – studded with walnuts, almonds and pistachios and scented with honey and rose. And no family get together is complete without it. This honey-scented oolong is an homage to that deliciously nutty treat. With candied fruit, nuts and spices, it’s rich enough to make any occasion feel special.
Ingredients: oolong tea, roasted chicory root, pineapple, papaya, cinnamon, walnuts, apple, ginger, roasted almonds, cardamom, rose pepper, pistachios, rose blossom, artificial flavouring
How to Prepare: 1.25 tsp, 85°C (185°F), 4-7 minutes
This one smelled very nice and fruity. Definitely smelled dessert-like. Mom operates under the principle that if she doesn’t like the way something smells, than she usually doesn’t like the way it tastes. However, she isn’t one for super sweet teas so let’s see what she thought.
So, this tea was very sweet with a strong taste of cinnamon. For a very Canadian touch on this “review”, she said it was quite delicious after she had eaten her Timbit. Although it was very nice, it was definitely more of a “calorie free dessert” than a tea.
She wouldn’t buy it but might drink the rest of what’s in the tin depending on how she is feeling. Holiday time is when we tend to overindulge with the sweet stuff so it may happen. If you are someone who likes sweet tea and adds sugar to their regular tea than this is something that you will love.
I’ll see everyone tomorrow to find out what we get for day 11!
