!!! SPOILERS !!!
If you do not want to know the types of tea or order that the teas come up in this advent calendar than don’t read any further 🙂
For those of you who don’t know, this is a loose leaf tea advent calendar made by the Canadian tea company, David’s Tea. Each day has a different tea flavour that comes in a little tin and can make about 2-3 cups of tea per day. It is my mom who drinks the tea so these will be her opinions about the tea itself. Let’s see what we had today:
Organic Mother’s Little Helper
Need a little relaxation? Try running for the shelter of this mother’s little helper. It’s got organic valerian (aka “nature’s Valium”) to take the edge off your 24/7 reality. Plus there’s chamomile, peppermint and lemongrass for an added dose of tranquility. And pretty blue cornflowers just to make you happy. One sip and you’ll feel like you’ve spent the day at a spa. (MK Kosher)
Ingredients: peppermint, lemongrass, hibiscus, rosehips, chamomile, valerian root, cornflowers, peppermint flavouring
How to Prepare: 1.25 tsp, 96°C (205°F), 4-7 minutes
Right away this tea smelled super minty and if you have been keeping up with my posts, you will know that mom doesn’t like minty drinks. It seems like we are in a rough patch with these teas at the moment but let’s see how this one went.
Apparently this tea tasted mostly minty with just a hint of lemon and it wasn’t one of her favourites. The above picture is after we had strained the tea post-steeping. There were a ton of leaves that had escaped the infuser, too much really. It was much more appealing after we had strained it.
Mom had a tough time sleeping last night and was definitely intrigued by the thought of it being a natural sleep inducer. She said that if it actually does help her sleep than she could see past the minty taste and drink it when she needed it. She was in here saying goodnight earlier than 9:00 tonight so maybe it worked its magic. We are going to wait to see what the real verdict is on this one.
Can’t wait to see what tea comes up tomorrow!
