If you do not want to know the types of tea or order that the teas come up in this advent calendar than don’t read any further 🙂
For those of you who don’t know, this is a loose leaf tea advent calendar made by the Canadian tea company, David’s Tea. Each day has a different tea flavour that comes in a little tin and can make about 2-3 cups of tea per day. It is my mom who drinks the tea so these will be her opinions about the tea itself. Let’s see what we had today:
Whether you’re out sledding or just doing some holiday shopping, there’s no better way to stay warm and cozy than a piping hot mug of tea. And this tartly fruity, lightly spiced blend is the perfect winter companion. Just one sip and you’ll have visions of sugar plums dancing in your head. Not to mention apple, hibiscus, ginger and warm winter spices. It’s the perfect shot of warmth on a chilly winter day.
Ingredients: apple, hibiscus, rooibos, ginger, licorice root, raisins, cinnamon, rose hip peel, plum, cardamom, star anise, bruised pepper, cloves, chili pieces, artificial flavouring
How to Prepare: 1.25 tsp, 96°C (205°F), 4-7 minutes
Mom wasn’t feeling great again today and fruit teas aren’t her favourite in general so we didn’t have high hopes for this one. It definitely smelled fruity with a mix of spices in there. I personally really liked the smell but mom thought it smelled a little bit like potpourri, which really I guess it did (I wasn’t offended by the smell at all). This is another one that didn’t change too much in appearance from being steeped.
This tea certainly was nice looking. Apparently you could really taste the apple in a way that made it taste a bit like watered down apple cider. Mom said that this tea was good as a stand alone but for her it wouldn’t be her favourite to drink with breakfast or something like that. She said that she will drink the rest of the tin but probably wouldn’t buy anymore of it for herself. However, she did say that if you were spending time outside on a cold winter day, it would be a nice treat to keep yourself warm.
Not too bad of a day. There have been several teas so far that mom has been just okay with. Honestly, I had anticipated most of them being just okay or even worse so we aren’t doing too badly. We have even found about 4 or 5 teas that she would definitely buy again so I am happy with that! I hope that day 15 is a really great one for her!
