If you do not want to know the types of tea or order that the teas come up in this advent calendar than don’t read any further 🙂
For those of you who don’t know, this is a loose leaf tea advent calendar made by the Canadian tea company, David’s Tea. Each day has a different tea flavour that comes in a little tin and can make about 2-3 cups of tea per day. It is my mom who drinks the tea so these will be her opinions about the tea itself. Let’s see what we had today:
We all know the classic morning ritual: a cup of coffee and a glass of orange juice. But what if you could get your energy boost and fresh-squeezed fruity taste all in one cup? We’re seriously. Shake up your old routine with this fruity maté blend, and you may never go back. It’s got the juicy flavour of orange, papaya, and pineapple, plus the high-energy punch of green yerba maté. Just one sip and you’ll feel alert, refreshed and ready for anything. Say hello to your new main squeeze. (MK Kosher)
Ingredients: green yerba maté, candied papaya, pineapple, safflower, natural flavouring
How to Prepare: 1.25 tsp, 85°C (185°F), 4-7 minutes
We had thought that this one was going to turn into a bit of a salad but it really didn’t do too much. It smelled nice and citrusy from the get go though which I liked. When I first read the list of teas in the box, I didn’t think mom would like this one all that much. However, she did like the Pink Flamingo tea so there is hope. Let’s see what she thought about this one.
So, mom had never had a maté tea before and we had to look into what it actually was. Turns out, this type of tea has a bunch of health benefits which mom always likes to hear about. She could definitely taste the citrus in it because at first sip she thought that it had lemon or lemongrass in it. Mom says that it has a very mild, fruity flavour to it. This tea was rated as stimulating in terms of how much caffeine it had. About an hour after drinking it, she said that she didn’t feel super caffeinated or anything which is good because she drinks these teas after dinner most of the time.
This was a tea that mom liked and said she might actually buy so I would definitely say this is a win! We are in the later half of the advent calendar which makes me a little bit sad because it has been fun! Can’t wait to see what comes on day 17!
