No More Memeboxes

Be forewarned, this post is coming from a place of frustration and disappointment and I don’t think I will be able to hide those feelings. To anyone who reads my blog, you may know that the majority of my unboxing posts are Memeboxes and I have loved my Memeboxes. Over the last few months, people have been speculating about a lot of things involving Memebox.

First, people were disappointed because the VIP and affiliate benefits got worse and worse until they weren’t worth having for the most part. The quality of the boxes was very hit or miss causing people to lose trust in the company. For almost all of November (I believe it was November), they just weren’t really releasing boxes at all. A lot of focus shifted to the US customers and to Memeboxes new makeup line that they had created. No one really knew for sure what was going on but Memebox assured people that lots of exciting things would be happening in the new year.

Throughout January, people received emails saying that due to shipping issues, Memebox wouldn’t be able to ship to their company anymore. People were unhappy and that is understandable because I often thought “I’m glad that isn’t me” and “They wouldn’t stop shipping to Canada since we are neighbours to the US.” Fast forward to today and my fears were realized, but not just mine.

Memebox released an email (which I didn’t actually get) and a statement saying that they would no longer be shipping internationally AT ALL. They would only ship within China, Korea, and the US where they had distribution centres. Now, I understand that it is silly to get upset over something trivial like this. However, a lot of people have been very loyal to Memebox and have given them a lot of money for their products. Everyone is feeling a little bit betrayed by this.

You can order boxes up until February 10 and still get them internationally but that is it. I understand that this is a business decision but I think they will lose a lot of profit by cutting out international customers. I do feel sad about this, and a little bit angry even though that doesn’t make much sense. I have a couple of Memebox unboxings that I am about to write and have a few more boxes that are in transit or still have to ship. I hope that these upcoming posts aren’t tainted by the way that I am feeling about Memebox at the moment. They might be, and if they are than I apologize.

I just wanted to let you guys know about these changes in case you didn’t see the news and are a Memebox lover yourselves. Sorry that this is a more ranty and less fun kind of post but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that I needed to write this. Maybe posting this will make me feel less grumpy, who knows.

Thanks for reading! If you are an international Memebox customer, let me know how you feel about all of this.

ABCDEat Happy Friday Pouch

Here is the first instalment of my order from ABCDEat. This is an Asian snack service that was started by a YouTuber/Blogger named Genie and her partner. This is not a subscription service because it does not automatically renew but you can receive monthly boxes, specialty boxes, and their pouches. At the moment, they are not releasing new boxes but hopefully they will be back to it soon.

What I have ordered is called the Happy Friday Pouch which is a smaller and less expensive version of one of the boxes. This pouch is only $8.99 USD and this includes the shipping. I had seen some unboxing posts about the pouch and knew that it was a bit of a risk for me because I do not particularly like seafood and there were definitely some seafood snacks in the pouches. I decided that for $9 I would take the risk.

This package came very well bubble wrapped and protected that it was nice to see that they took the effort to package it instead of just throwing it all inside of a mailer. There is not a card for the pouch so this probably won’t be 100% accurate in terms of company names and what not but I will try my best. Let’s see what we got!

Dahfa Fish Snacks

Dahfa Fish Snack (Product of Malaysia)

Gahhh…Right off the bat there is seafood. I had seen this snack in other unboxings and really hoped I wouldn’t get it. I would be less afraid of seafood flavoured chips or something like that but this is legitimate fish jerky basically. The ingredients are: wheat flour, fish meat, salt, sugar, chilli, soya sauce, flavour enhancer. I am absolutely terrified of this one.

I have been wanting to “lady up” if you will and try new foods without being such a baby. So, for the sake of a thorough review of the products, I have tasted one of these strips despite my wimpy feelings about the whole thing. Right when I took it out of the packaging it smelled so much like fish tank. Yes, I am this big of a wuss about food, it’s silly I know. It has a weird paper-ish kind of texture and at first it doesn’t really taste like anything but then the fish taste hit me. Unfortunately, this snack wasn’t for me. I’m sure that some people would really like this but it’s not my cup of tea. I’m impressed with myself that I tried it though.

Sesame Cuttlefish

Sesame Baked Cuttlefish Snack Puffs (Product of Thailand)

Another seafood snack, yikes. I really wish that I liked seafood, I feel like my life would be a lot easier and I could try a ton of different cool dishes. These are less scary to me than the fish snacks because they are corn puffs which is more familiar for me. The ingredients for this one are : corn, rice, sugar, cuttlefish, vegetable oil, salt and flavouring (onion powder, chilli paste, chilli). At first I thought Sesame was just another flavouring of these puffs but I think it is actually the company name.

This was probably the thickest plastic packaging for a snack I have ever seen. I had to fight it just to get it open. This one did not have an appealing smell to me either but I told myself I would at least try it. These had quite a sweet taste to them which I wasn’t expecting. I wish they were just the puffs and seasoning, and not the cuttlefish. I think I will have to pass on these too. Once again though, I am glad this pouch is getting me to try some new things!

Ahh Cheese

Richeese Ahh Triple Cheese Snack (Product of Indonesia)

I received 2 of these cheese snacks in the pouch, both are triple cheese flavouring. I tend to be a little bit on the fence about cheese flavoured snacks. I don’t love cheese crackers but I do like snacks like Cheetos so I was hoping that these would be more towards the Cheetos end of the spectrum.

Once I had opened these, I was a little unsure. There was so much cheese. It is like Cheetos coated with some more cheese. This is also sweet which is so strange to me. I kind of like this one though. I am having a hard time with the sweetness of it considering it is a cheese snack but I will probably eat both of these so that’s good!

Edo Gummies

EDO Pack Assorted Fruit Gummy Candies (Product of China)

This was one snack that I had seen in unboxings that I was excited about. I love fruity snacks and I definitely love gummies. There were 2 packs of these in the pouch as well. When I pulled these out, I wasn’t sure if they were more like candies or fruit snacks but either one was fine with me.

After trying them, I would definitely say that they are more on the fruit snack side of things but they are really good! There are four flavours: grape, strawberry, peach, and mango. I really love all of those fruits in real fruit form so I am definitely okay with them in gummy form. I ate the entire first pouch right away and will definitely enjoy the second soon.

Yaokin Grape

Yaokin Sour Paper Grape (Product of Japan)

This is the thing that I was most excited for in the pouch. I am such a candy lover! Grape isn’t necessarily my favourite flavour but I do like it! This felt really thin and pliable through the packaging. I had expected this to be grape candy purple but when I opened it, it was more of a peach colour and had a coating of sugar on it which I assume is the sour flavouring.

This has the same kind of texture as the rainbow sour belts that you can buy. I wouldn’t say that this is sour, but rather that it is slightly tart. I know that probably doesn’t make sense. The grape flavouring isn’t the super artificial flavour that I am used to with candies here in Canada or the US but it’s obviously good because I already ate the whole thing. They also have soda and cola flavours which I would really enjoy trying!

Overall, I am glad that I ordered the pouch. Even though there were a couple of snacks that I wasn’t the biggest fan of, it allowed me to try some new and different foods and I found a couple of things that I really liked. I wish that you could pick a ‘no seafood’ option but that is okay, not a big deal.

I’m sure I sound like a Negative Nancy but I’m not trying to be. I’m not saying that any of these snacks are bad, they just are not to my personal taste. Some people would really love these I know! I would probably be more suited to a box that was candy/sweet treats related. However, I think I would order the pouch again if the snacks change and it is not just a set pouch that goes out to everyone that orders it. I have seen different products come in the pouch so I know that is not the case, I’m just not sure how often they do change the snacks.

I think that if you like to try cool new snacks, than ABCDEat might be of interest to you! If you want to check them out, you can view their facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/ABCDEat, you can find their website here http://www.abcdeatbox.com/, or you can watch Genie’s video about the service here: ABCDEat Video.

TesterKorea Haul

TK Haul 1

I would like to start off my saying that I apologize in advance for the qualities of pictures in this post. I just don’t have a great space for pictures taking up large spaces so I had to make do. This means they may be a little blurry, a little shiny, let’s just pretend it’s artistic or something.

Now that the apology is out of the way, I can say how excited I am about this order! It took a little while for the order to be fulfilled. I ordered it on January 1 and it was shipped on the 15. However, I received it on January 20 because I shipped EMS which means it was express!

TesterKorea has a kind of permanent sale for members meaning that for their brand sale, all members get 30% off of everything. There was also a little bit of a deal with shipping so I took advantage of that. It ended up being somewhere between $50 and $60 for 86 masks so that is a great deal! It makes each mask less than a dollar which is nowhere near the price we have to pay in stores around here. Alrighty, let’s take a look at what I decided to pick up!

Nature Republic Eyeliner

TesterKorea is pretty known for the samples that they give out with their orders. I was pretty excited to see what I would get, especially because my order was so large. Some people had said lately that because of a sale they had, they had just been giving people like 20 samples of the same product so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I didn’t actually get any samples with my order but did get a full size Nature Republic Fly to the Moon Liquid Eyeliner in Black. I haven’t swatched it yet because I have a couple liquid eyeliners on the go at the moment. I am pretty happy with this! Anything that is given for free is a bonus so I definitely couldn’t be disappointed!

I am really happy with my order! I know it took a long time to get the order shipped but it was still around the holidays and during a sale so that is okay. I know there was a lot to read above but I wanted you guys to know what each mask was for in case you were interested in them! I am so excited to try all of these out since I am so obsessed with sheet masks in general! If you have tried any of these masks, let me know what you thought of them! Thanks for reading 🙂

Nature Box Free Trial- January 2015

Naturebox

I know that recently I posted about several subscription services that I have been wanting to try. Right around that time, Naturebox launched their full website for Canadians which allowed the free trial to be purchased by us. You do need to pay the $7.95 shipping cost but you get 4 single serving sample packets of snacks and then one full sized bag of snacks as well. This allows you to get a feel for what their snacks are like, should you want to fully subscribe.

Be aware that purchasing the trial will automatically set up you up to be re-billed monthly for the full subscription unless you cancel before you are charged again. The monthly deluxe box is $19.95 monthly (plus shipping) and you get 5 full sized bags of snacks. They do have other size options which are: 3 snacks ($13.95 + shipping), 10 snacks ($29.95 + shipping), or 20 snacks ($49.95 + shipping). The shipping for Canadians is $7.95 per box. It used to be $4.95 but the cost went up for some reason when they launched the full site which isn’t the best. With the exchange rate at the moment, the cost can end up being fairly high. Let’s see what came in my trial box.

January 2015 Box.

Cranberry Medley BagCranberry Medley

Cranberry Medley

Looking for your midday snack boost? Munch on this fresh new take on dried blueberries and cranberries flavoured with pomegranate and açai. With no artificial sweeteners, this is one super snack that will satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you guilt-free.

I was worried that this one would just taste like dried cranberries which I don’t mind but they can be a little tart/bitter. These were really tasty! They have a sweetness to them which is just great. I haven’t decided yet how I want to eat these. Either by the handful or mixed in with my cereal in the morning.

Garden Tomato Crunchies BagGrden Tomato Crunchies

Garden Tomato Crunchies

These Crunchies are a great choice for all the almond fans out there – the bite-sized pieces let you enjoy an effortless almond crunch. Plus, the tangy flavors of summer tomato satisfy a savory craving even when you can’t get your hands on a vine-ripened variety.

I was pretty excited to be getting these. Almonds aren’t my favourite but I love that these are just almond pieces. I also love tomato so I was looking forward to trying them. At first taste I thought they were just alright but I find myself returning to the little bag to have some more. I wouldn’t say they just taste like tomato, but there is something so familiar about them to me. I almost want to say that they remind me of the pizza flavoured Pringle Stix. I’m not sure if that’s what it is or not but it might be.

Jalapeno Cashews BagJalapeno Cashews

Jalapeño Cashews

Grab your favorite ice-cold beverage and kick up your feet as you enjoy these Southwestern-inspired cashews. With minimal ingredients, these savory cashews have the protein you need to help you feel fuller longer. The spicy kick from jalapeño seasoning makes for a fiery crunch that will leave your taste buds tingling.

Pouring these out, I didn’t they looked all that seasoned but I guess that’s how they make them healthier. Usually seasoned products have a more granulated seasoning on them but it is a lot of salt in those. I do love seasoned things so finding a healthier option is great for me! These are such an interesting snack. They aren’t really spicy like you would think something would be when it is jalapeño flavoured. However, they do have that super yummy jalapeño taste! I am super excited about these! I know that nuts are good for you, but generally I don’t like them enough to just snack on them. These will be a better option for me than regular seasoned nuts would be.

Sea Salt Sun Crunch BagSea Salt Sun Crunch

Sea Salt Sun-Crunch

You’ve had an early dinner so the snack attack starts around 8pm. You don’t normally get into the habit of late-night eating but a few bites won’t hurt. Crunch on this savory snack with a hint of salt and a complete sunflower crispiness. Just round it out with an ice-cold glass of fruit-infused water!

For some reason, I was picturing these as thin crackers but they really are quite thick. You can see from the picture that they are just loaded with sunflower seeds. They definitely look pretty healthy! These certainly are crunchy which is awesome because there are many times when I am craving something crunchy to snack on but can’t find anything in the cupboard. They do taste relatively salty but it shouldn’t be too bad as long as you aren’t sitting eating the whole bag.

Blueberry Nom Noms BagBlueberry Nom Noms

Blueberry Nom Noms

Sink your teeth into these soft baked Nom Noms- they are almost like the cookie dough your mom wouldn’t let you eat as a kid, but good for you!

Now, let me preface this one with me saying that I had seen a lot of people getting nom noms (in different flavours) as their full sized item and I wasn’t particularly excited about it. I didn’t really want to get them because there were other things that I would have rather tried. I did get them and silly me, what did I know about anything before. These are really tasty! You only get about 5 in a package but they are really big and dense. You wouldn’t need much of this to fill you up. I am glad that I got to try these ones!

I am really happy with my sampler pack for Naturebox! I think that I will get a full months worth and see how I feel about it. It can be a little expensive with the shipping cost and exchange rate but maybe this will help me be a healthier snacker which would be good for sure! Talking with my brother and my dad I offered to get a bigger box if they wanted to split it with me. Just to share the love and lower the cost of course! At this point, I would recommend Naturebox to friends, especially if they lived in the US and actually only had to pay $20 a month for it.

If you would like to check out Naturebox for yourself, you can find their website at https://naturebox.com/

Ipsy January 2015

For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a monthly beauty subscription service. The cost is $10 per month plus $5 shipping per month to Canada. When you sign up, you take a little quiz about your preferences and details about yourself and they use that to choose appropriate products for you. Each month you will get a beautiful pink bubble mailer and inside is a cosmetics bag with the products inside. The cosmetics bag is different each month which is kind of cool! You can review products and share on social media in order to get Ipsy points which you can accumulate to buy certain products.

I believe the theme for this month was “Fresh Start” which makes sense since it is the start of a new year. Let’s see what we got in this bag!

January 2015 Bag

The bag itself is this blue on one side and white on the other with a coral kind of zipper. It is alright, not my favourite design but it isn’t bad.

J Cat EyelinerJ Cat Eyeliner Swatch

J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Gele Eye Liner in Blue Black

Although I have been using mostly liquid liner these days, I am quite a fan of gel liners and the way that they wear. When I swatched this, it stayed put after it had set right until I pulled out the makeup remover. Even when I washed my hands and scrubbed at it with soap it didn’t move so that is nice. My complaint would be that it is blue black which isn’t as wearable for me on a daily basis but I will try it out and see if I can make it work. I am pretty happy with this product.

This is a full sized product and it retails for $5.99.

Manna Kadar Sheer Glo

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo

I tried to swatch this but really it is so sheer that it wasn’t going to show up on camera. Once it is rubbed in, it does give a shimmer when the sunlight hits it. I think that this would be really nice in the spring and summer when glowy things aren’t so out of place. I do appreciate that it is sheer and not pink toned on my skin though. I will be excited to see how this wears!

This sample size is 0.27 oz and is valued at $7.84. The full size is 1 oz and retails for $29.

Nourish Organic Eye Cream

Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream

This is a repeat from a previous Ipsy bag but not a product that I have received before so it’s not so bad. Reading through the comments about this product, it seems like people really like it so if it is a good product than that is great! It seems that this cream was not actually sold until January from the company and these were sent out before it began retailing. I believe that they have just called it a different name on the company website but that it is the same as this product. I am still going through an eye cream but I am excited to see if this is worth the hype.

From what I can tell, the product is 0.5 oz in the full size which is the size of this tube as well. If that is true, than this retails for $19.99. Very cool!

Pacfica EyeshadowPacifica Eyeshadow

Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow in Ethereal

I received the shade Ethereal and the other option for this shadow was Treasure which looks like more of a bronzed brown kind of colour. It is a little hard to see this colour in the swatch because it is so light. I think that this would make a really nice highlight colour for the inner corner of your eye or under your brow bone! I do have several highlight colours so this will probably last forever. I am intrigued by the use of coconut in the eyeshadow and can’t wait to see if that makes a difference in how it wears.

These eyeshadows are only sold in larger palettes which retail for about $14. I have divided this up and estimated that it is worth $4.67.

Real Techniques Brush

Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush

This was the product that I was most excited for in the bag this month! I have heard so much about Real Techniques brushes and have been wanting to try them but hadn’t taken the plunge. Along with this, I have been considering buying a liner brush. I did have more of an angled brush type of thing in mind but this is awesome too. I was absolutely thrilled when I pulled this out of the bag!

This is a full size product and retails for $6.

I am pretty happy with this bag. It isn’t my favourite that I have received before but it isn’t my least favourite either. I will use (or at least try) all of the products in the bag! The total retail value of the items is $44.49 which isn’t too bad either.

If you are interested in signing up for Ipsy, you can use my link http://www.ipsy.com/r/c762?sid=ipsypoints&cid=general or you can check them out without my link at www.ipsy.com

Let me know what you got in your December Ipsy bag!

If you have not heard of Memebox, it is a Korean beauty box that contains a variety of skin care, makeup, and other beauty products. There are several types of boxes, including: memeboxes, superboxes, nakedboxes, and boxes that are set around a particular theme. The prices vary depending on the type of box that you get and can range from $15-$80 I believe. Most of the regular boxes are $23 and then you also have to pay $6.99 shipping for each box. You have to keep an eye on the shipping dates for each box because it can be months away, that way you aren’t frustrated wondering why the shipping takes so long. Sometimes if boxes are due to ship at the same time, they will have bundles so that there is only one shipping cost.

K-Beauty Wrap Up 2 Box

O'GCE Pack Set

O’Gce Minus Touch Cooling Nose Pack Set [Cooling Nose Pack 10 pcs + Pore Slim Pad Pouch 10 pcs] ($24)

No more blackheads and oily mess around your noses! The Cooling Nose Pack’s blend of blue menthol, button flower, arnica, and pancratium maritmum extract effectively soothe and cool down dry, irritated nose. Then the Pore Slim Pad’s gently formula based on camellia extracts and witch hazel extracts works to tighten and refresh visibly enlarged pores.

How to Use: Cleanse the nose thoroughly with water. With dry hands, remove the translucent film from the Cooling Nose Pack and place the smoother side over your nose. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes. Peel off from the outer edges. Gently rinse with water or toner. As for the Pore Slim Pad, place it over puffy eyes or nose in the morning for about 10-15 minutes. Remove and follow with toner and emulsion.

I am actually pretty excited to receive this product! I love nose and face strips and haven’t been able to try any Korean strips yet. Not only that, but to get 10 of each the nose and face strips is great! Some boxes might give you only one or two of each, so these will last a long time. I haven’t tried these yet because I don’t like to use them too often but I really do look forward to seeing how they compare with ones I’ve tried before.

Radiance Whitening Cream

Eclado Real Radiance Whitening Cream 40g ($50)

This non-sticky, lightweight formula absorbs into skin smoothly to reduce appearance of dry patches and roughened skin texture and to brighten up dulled complexion. A blend of allantoin, licorice, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, green tea extracts, and portulaca extracts replenishes, softens, and rejuvenates to give skin a healthy glow and youthful radiance.

How to Use: Massage the cream gently all over clean face as the last step to skin care. Pat in with clean hands for full absorbance.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Whitening creams as a concept make me a little bit nervous. I have read that Asian whitening creams are more of a brightening product than actual whitening so I hope that is right. If it does work for brightening than it would be nice in the winter when my skin is a lot more dull than the warmer months. I will probably spot test this one before I slather it all over my face.

Mineral Bio Clay Pack

Mineral Bio Natural Mineral White Clay Pack 80ml ($24)

Detoxify, purify, and refine the skin with the power of white clay. Combined with the pore-unclogging and oil-absorbing powers of kaolin and pure mineral water, this detoxifying mask helps to exfoliate dead skin cells and rid the pores of harmful, pore-clogging toxins. It also shrinks enlarged pores for the look of pore-free, porcelain skin, and controls shine for a refined look. All the products from Mineral Bio are greatly acknowledged for high content of natural mineral water which was also approved and categorized by the US FDA as being “High Mineral Content.”

How to Use: Spread the clay pack evenly over clean face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Massage gently with lukewarm water and rinse off. Follow with toner. Recommended to be used 2-3 times a week.

This is another one that I am pretty excited about! I haven’t tried any clay masks up until now. I received this and the Claypatra masks in the Boxing Day #2 box both on the same day so that is awesome! I have heard a lot about what clay can do for your skin so I am interested to see if it can do anything for me. I really hope it can do something for enlarged pores because that is an issue that I deal with.

I.Myss Eye Cream

I.Myss Natural Toc Face Tuning Eye Cream 30 ml ($30)

It’s about time you upgrade your skincare regiment to include things like eye creams – if you wish to maintain your youthfulness for as long as possible! The natural Toc Face Tuning Eye Cream enriched with natural ingredients such as tea tree extracts and argan oil are perfect for those just entering the world of ‘anti-aging’. It’s gently in formula, delivers intense hydration and nutrition, and suitable for daily use because it melts softly into eye contours with a moist, light finish.

I feel a little neutral about this one. I have found an eye cream that I really love and have been using so I don’t really need this. However, when I finish the one that I am using now, I will try it out. There were two options for this cream: tea tree oil and argan oil. I was happy to receive the argan oil option because I think that it will do more for me than the tea tree oil version would. I probably won’t get to this for awhile so I won’t know how it works until later on.

I.Myss Concealer

I.Myss Concealer Swatch

I.Myss Cantabile Stick BB Concealer 1ea ($13)

Cantabile Stick BB Concealer adheres tightly over blemishes or acne scars to provide flawlessly smooth and porcelain-finish coverage. It comes in an easy-to-carry stick type and its moisturizing formula enriched with vitamin E complex helps maintain skin moist and soft.

There were two colour options for this one, #01 Light Beige and #02 Natural Beige. I unfortunately received the #02 Natural Beige concealer which is quite a bit darker than my own skin (as can be seen in the swatch above). It seems that whenever Memebox sends me concealers, I get the colour that is too dark for me. I will have to see if there is a way that I can make this work, but I’m not sure. Maybe I will save it for the summer when I have slightly more colour to my face. Granted, slightly more colour for me just means a little bit less pale.

Xaivita Cleanser

Xaivita+ Goat Milk Skin Care Series: Goat Milk Vitamin Scrub Foam Cleansing 150 ml

This is a scrub foam cleanser containing goat milk and abundant vitamin nutrients to help exfoliate excess skin impurities, dust, dead skin cells, and sebum. It will deep cleanse the face and replenish vitality and healthy glow to your face. Contains no artificial additives thus gently and non-irritating to all skin types.

For this box I received the Vitamin Scrub Foam Cleanser but there were many possibilities for products from the Goat Milk Skin Care Series. The other options were: Goat Milk Bubble Soap (85g), Goat Milk Moisturizing Hand Cream (70ml), Goat Milk Wrinkle Essence (80m), and Goat Milk Bubble Foam Cleansing (150ml). There isn’t a price listed for any of these options but they are all full sized. I think that I would have chosen the essence if I had the choice but what I got would have been my second choice! I have so many cleansers but I am intrigued by the fact that it is a scrub foam cleanser. Hopefully it is actually a scrub type of product and that it doesn’t just have scrub in the name.

I’m actually quite happy with this box! I paid $25 for the box and received products with a retail value of $164 (not including the goat milk cleanser). We will see about the concealer and the whitening cream but I’m sure they will be fine! I’m pretty happy that I bought this one. I hadn’t heard great things about the original K-Beauty Wrap-Up so this was a nice surprise!

Memebox Boxing Day Special #4

Boxing Day 4

Last but not least, Memebox presents you with our final Boxing Day Special #4! This lovely box offers 5 full-sized skin care and makeup products from the hottest K-beauty stores (like Skinfood and Tonymoly anyone?) for only $23! Grab yours now, because Boxing Day Special boxes come in limited quantities only and we don’t want you to miss out!

The promise of brands such as Skinfood and Tonymoly was the reason that I purchased this box. I have liked products from these brands before and was excited to see which new products of theirs I could try. Let’s see what we got.

Boxing Day 4 Box

Skinfood Eyebrow ClosedSkinfood Eyebrow

Skinfood Choco Eyebrow Powder Cake 4g ($5)

Formulated with cacao extracts, this Choco Eyebrow Powder Cake carries two naturally blending grey, khaki, or brown shades for shaping and defining fine arches with an easy sweep.

01 Grey Khaki Black, 02 Grey Brown

This is not a product that I was excited about to be honest. I received this product in my Skinfood box and wasn’t overly excited about it at the time either. You could have received 01 Grey Khaki Black or 02 Grey Brown and I received 02 Grey Brown which is the exact same colour I got last time. I think I will probably find someone to pass this along to.

Skinfood Tomato Toner

Skinfood Tomato Whitening Toner 180 ml ($17)

A premium Tomato Whitening Toner made from sun-ripe tomato extracts and Vitamin C complex to make skin brighter, clearer, and suppler.

This is another repeat from the Skinfood box that I received. I finished this bottle of toner literally only a couple of days before receiving this box which was kind of funny. I did enjoy this toner. I found it quite refreshing and it actually became my favourite part of my skincare routine. I am working on a lemon peeling toner at the moment but I think that this one is next in line (based on expiry date). Its not so great that this is a repeat but at least it is something I know I like!

Nuganic BB

Nuganic Customize Anti-Wrinkle BB or Customize Pure Snail BB 40 ml ($54)

Nuganic BB Creams work to balance out the skin’s oil & moisture level for a silky smooth finish to your makeup. They offer strong UV protection while effectively covering up skin imperfections and leaving your skin glowing with a natural shine. The Anti-Wrinkle BB is enriched with adenosine, arbutin, ginseng extracts and more, and the Pure Snail BB bases its formula on snail mucin filtrate, aloe vera leaf, lemon, and various herbal ingredients.

There were two options for which kind of BB cream you got and I was really indifferent to which one that I had to be honest. I have not opened this because I have several BB creams open at the moment but I’m sure it will be nice. There is no shade listed so we will see how it matches. I haven’t had too much trouble matching the Korean BB creams so far because I am pretty fair. I am excited to try this!

Skinfood Cleanser

Skinfood Egg White Pore Meringue Foam 200ml ($13)

Abundant, meringue-like fine bubbles penetrate deep into skin without irritating or dehydrating the skin texture. Highly recommended for weak and sensitive oily skin types.

This is the final repeat product in this box, also from the Skinfood box. I am a couple of days from finishing my first bottle of this cleanser and I have enjoyed it so I am not upset to have another one. I have so many cleansers at the moment that I may never run out!

Tonymoly Tint Swatch

Tonymoly Delight Tony Tint 8.3ml ($4)

One of the bestselling lip tints in Korea, this tint instantly gives vivid red colour to your lips with just a single touch. It creates the long-lasting, radiant lips, popular among Korean beauty lovers.

How to Use: Apply small amount to inner center of the lip. Blend it outwards to create gradient lips.

The final product of this box is a Tonymoly lip tint. For some reason I skipped actually taking a picture of the packaging but you can see the swatch above. I received 01 Cheery Pink and the other choices were 02 Red or 03 Orange Cha Cha. I am so unbelievably happy that I didn’t get the orange version of this! When I read that it was Cheery Pink, I was a little afraid it would be a Barbie kind of pink. Fortunately for me, it is a deeper pink that I actually like quite a bit. Once it sets, it doesn’t seem to budge so that is great! As you can see in the picture, the colour may feather out a bit so be careful with it on your lips!

I paid $25 for this box and received products that are valued at $93. I am still waiting on my Boxing Day #5 box but so far this has been my least favourite of the Boxing Day boxes. It’s not that these are bad products, I just would have preferred getting something new that I haven’t tried before. Overall, an alright box.
