Project Pan 2015 – Month One Update

Alright, so here we are. One month into my Project Pan and I am enjoying the challenge of it to be honest. I would have to say that it is harder than I thought it would be. Many times I just forget that I am supposed to be using products up. I find this especially true with my lip products because I want to use all the gorgeous shades I got in the Give Me More Lip set.

I think that instead of talking about all of the products for these monthly updates, I will just let you know which ones (if any) that I have finished and which ones I have made some progress on. I am going to include the original intro photos of the products with the new ones so that you can see the difference. So, let’s see how I’m doing!

FINISHED PRODUCTS

The Face Shop Hand CreamFace Shop Hand Cream

The Face Shop Hand Cream

This honestly took longer to finish than I thought it would considering it isn’t all that large. I was using it as my night time hand cream after I had put on my cuticle butter because I just didn’t want to smell like it during the day. It was a little bit of an older floral smell which isn’t my favourite. I am pretty happy to be finished with this one.

BBW FlannelFlannel Candle

Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Flannel

Although it doesn’t look like there was too much to go in this one, it took a long time to finish. It is a really slow burner and I can’t burn it for too long at once because the scent is so strong. It is a very manly kind of smell I would say. I do like it but it works better in a larger space than just in my bedroom where I was burning it.

Nivea SoftNivea Soft

Nivea Soft Lotion

When I bought this lotion, my intention was to use it as hand cream. However, when I started this project, I decided to use it as my after-shower body lotion. I actually really liked this as a body lotion, probably more than I liked it for my hands. The only thing is that I love really yummy scented lotions (even though I know scent isn’t great for skincare) and this is just a non-scented lotion kind of smell. I would definitely buy this and use it again, but my preference is the whipped cream from Fortune Cookie Soap because of their scents.

BBW Cranberry WoodsCranberry Woods Candle

Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Cranberry Woods

I would say that I really powered through this candle, especially near the end. I found that once it was almost finished, I would burn it forever and it didn’t seem to go down at all. This is a really nice winter candle and I like that the cranberry scent is almost a little bit tart to brighten up the other, deeper scents of the candle. I would buy this one again for sure! I must say though, I do feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish a candle and I’m not sure why.

Lush Lemony FlutterLush Cuticle Butter

LUSH Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

This is another one that I really hustled to get through. When I bought this, I tried it as an actual cuticle butter and didn’t really like it (this is another time I prefer an FCS product). However, I found a purpose for it that I much prefer. After I get out of the shower, I rub this in really well on the bottoms of my feet and then put socks on. This lets me walk around without getting every hair and fluffy stuck to my feet and lets my feet get some much needed hydration. I think that this has really helped with the care of my feet this winter and I would buy it again!

PROGRESS

There's No Place Like Home Oil

Fortune Cookie Soap Perfume Oil in There’s No Place Like Home

I won’t include the previous pictures for the perfume oils or sprays because I have the lines marked on the packaging so you can see where it was before. I think I have come quite far on this one and came so close to finishing it. It will definitely be an empty in the next months update. This scent is an apple and cinnamon scent that I loved in a soap but didn’t love in the perfume oil when I got it. I have been using it as my before bed perfume on alternating nights and I am really growing to like it. I think I will be a little sad when it’s gone.

Swankified Oil

Fortune Cookie Soap Perfume Oil in Swankified

It is a bit difficult to see the starting fill line on this perfume oil but it runs right along the top of the label, above the little fortune cookie logo. I have been using this as my other before bed perfume on the nights that I don’t use There’s No Place Like Home. This one isn’t my favourite. I got it because I had accidentally been sent the unscented version of their walnut scrub and they sent this so that I could mix it in with the scrub. I did use it for that, which made me happy, so now I am using the rest as a normal perfume oil. It is definitely a foodie banana bread smell that isn’t bad, just isn’t my usual type of scent. I will keep working away at this one.

Beetle Breath

Fortune Cookie Soap Mist Me in Beetle Breath

Holy moly look at how far I have come on this one! There is such a huge difference between those two fill lines. I do enjoy this scent, it is very fair like and smells like popcorn and funnel cake. I don’t really want to smell like this outside of the house so I douse myself in it before I get into bed. I find that when I wake up, I can still smell it on me and/or my sheets (I’m not sure which) and I enjoy it. I will be getting another Mist Me from FCS in the next week probably so I will have to work extra hard to use this up. If I keep up at the rate I’ve been going, this will probably be an empty in the next update!

The Face Shop Strawberry JamStrawberry Lip Balm

The Face Shop Dessert Lip Balm in Strawberry Jam

It is probably hard to tell from the pictures, but I have made a fair dent in this one. I have been using it as my night time lip balm after brushing my teeth and I like it. If I use too much, it can get a little goopy so that’s the only thing that isn’t great. I thought this would be one of the tougher products to work through but it hasn’t been too bad. Hopefully I will have it finished in the next few months.

Covergirl MarbleCovergirl Lip Balm

Covergirl Nature Luxe Gloss Balm in Marble

I think I am doing a pretty good job on this one! I have been using it as my morning lip balm because it isn’t as thick as the one from The Face Shop. I don’t think it will take me too long to work down through it. I am very curious as to what will happen when I fit the little plastic piece (the line through the middle of the balm). There seems to be a lot of product beneath it but I’m not sure if that will push up of not. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Nivea Night CareNivea Night

Nivea Moisturizing Night Care

There definitely is a difference in the before and after photo for this cream. The other day I decided to scrape down the sides so I could have a better feel for how much is still left. I think I am doing a pretty good job but there is still a lot left so it feels like it will take forever to use up. I do like this cream but I want to get into some of my Memebox creams so it is taking away from this one a little bit. I will keep working at it to see how long it takes.

Pumpkin Butter Candle

Woodwick 22 oz. Candle in Pumpkin Butter

I’ve had this candle for ages but now that I am working on tis project, I am actually getting through it. You can see from the picture the progress I have made (from the marker dots). It actually was a bit higher than the top dot to start with but I didn’t think to mark that spot before I started burning it. I am hoping to have this one finished at the month 2 or 3 update.

So there we have it, my progress after one month. I think I am doing a decent job and finishing 5 products in a month is great even though some of them were pretty easy to finish in that time! There are some things that I still am not really reaching for so I know they won’t be finished by the end of the year but I will probably get rid of them regardless of how far I have gotten on them.

If you are still reading this than thank you! I can’t wait to check in on March 1 with my second monthly update!
