MaskGenie January Pouch

MaskGenie Logo

MaskGenie is a service that I am so excited about! As of right now, this is a service that you need to “purchase” each month, so it is not a recurring subscription at the moment. Every month, you will receive different types of face masks that Genie has tested out and thinks are of good enough quality for you to try! There are two options for purchase: 5 masks for $12, or 10 masks for $22. Both of these prices include the shipping from Hong Kong so that is pretty good.

I thought that the masks would just come in the mailing pouch but they came in this super cute bag that helped keep them all together! Genie said that the cards weren’t printed in time for shipping so they provided this slip of paper to let you know where you can go for information on the masks.

I would like to preface this post by saying that Genie received more orders for this pouch than she expected to. It’s because of this that some masks sold out and when she went back to get more of them, she had to get different scents/kinds of the same mask. Some people may not like this but I kind of love when you get a randomly selection of different kinds of masks. Feels extra special!

Etude House Greentea Nose Pack ($0.50)

This is a nose pack that removes blackheads and takes care of pores with its green tea ingredient for a smooth and clean nose.

Directions: After cleansing, wet nose with water, remove patch’s transparent film and press smooth side of patch onto center of nose. After 10-15 minutes, once path dries up, remove patch starting from outer edges.

Although I don’t find nose packs particularly exciting, I do find them super useful! I really like the results of these kinds of packs and I am excited to see how this one works compared with other ones I’ve tried. I’m pretty sure green tea helps to soothe red and irritated skin, which these kinds of strips can cause, so maybe that will be really good!

Beyond Bye-Bye to Excess Fat Patch ($3)

With simple application, this firming patch provides intensive conditioning for the abdomen, thighs, upper arms and other areas that require special care. This hydrogel-type product helps to achieve smooth and soft body contour and its cooling and moisturizing composition provides firmness to the skin surface.

How to Use: Wash the area where you want to apply the patch, wipe it clean and dry it thoroughly. Open the pouch and remove the film on the patch. Gently place the patch on the area (abdomen, thigh, hip, upper arm, for example), making sure the patch is attached properly. Apply the adhesive bandage on the patch. For the active ingredients in the patch to be absorbed fully, leave the patch on for eight hours before removing it.

This is a really interesting product, and definitely the cool kind of thing that I would expect to see in this pouch. Not to mention, the packaging is just absolutely adorable! Since you have to wear this for 8 hours, I think I would definitely put it on right before bed. Genie said that when she tried this one, it did feel a little bit itchy so sleeping through that might be better. I know that this won’t get rid of fat, so I am interested to see what kind of results this will give.

Mediheal Mogongtox Soda Bubble Sheet ($3)

It is a mask developed by applying principle of carbonated water, which makes bubbles in the surface of the skin.

How to Use: After you wash and dry your face, wear the sheet with proper positioning of nose and lips area (please do it immediately after unpacking the pouch). Take off the sheet when carbonated bubbles comes up fully, after 10 minutes. Massage your face with bubble residues and wash off with lukewarm water cleanly. Sting on face caused by effect of carbonated bubbles which is the process of cleaning wastes in pores.

I think that this was a spoiler for this pouch but I tried to dodge any spoilers so I’m not 100% on that one. This mask sounds super cool! It bubbles on your face which helps to clean out your pores. Genie said that they mean it when they say to take it off after 10 minutes. Apparently if you leave it on for longer than that, your skin can get red and irritated. This mask doesn’t cover your forehead but does cover the rest of your face. I haven’t had a bubbling sheet mask before so I can’t wait to try this.

Lebelage Egg Natural Mask ($1)

Containing egg yolk extracts helps skin keep fresh. Preserve moisturizing and nourishment skin and help to manage a healthy skin. This is an effect of enhancing the skin’s elasticity and moisture.

How to Use: Thoroughly cleanse and dry face. Take out and unfold the mask and apply it on your face. Wear the mask for 20-25 minutes and peel off slowly from the edges. Allow the essence solution remaining on the skin following detachment of the mask to be absorbed by lighting tapping the skin.

Other than this information from the back of the package, I had a hard time finding any information on this mask. According to Genie, this is a lower end kind of mask but that’s okay with me. If you watch Genie’s Youtube video about this pouch, you will tell a story about how her mother and grandmother used to use egg on their face to help with their skin. I thought it was nice that she made a connection with the masks she put in this pouch.

Dermal Syn-ake Collagen Essence Mask ($1.50)

It contains minute peptide ingredient “Syn-ake” which is officially authorized by The Swiss Technology Award. The “Syn-ake” is similar with a real snake venom and it spreads to your skin fast and keeps your skin smooth and elastic while preventing skin muscular from contraction.

How to Use: Take out the mask sheet from the pack and unfold it. First, gently apply the mask sheet around your eye part and then fit your face contours. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Peel off the mask sheet and tab the remaining collagen essence over your face until it completely absorbs to your skin.

This was one of the masks that there were a couple types of in the pouch. Genie had originally choosing this syn-ake mask and then also added a collagen essence mask and a charcoal mask as well. I have yet to try any syn-ake type products so I am interested to see how this reacts with my skin. I would have been happy with any of the types of this mask but I am definitely happy with this one!

This mask makes a lot of promises in terms of results! Genie wanted to include this mask because Secret Key is a well known brand and she wanted to have a nice mix of well known and lesser known brands. I have seen a lot of Secret Key products but haven’t actually received/used any. I have heard good things about the brand though so I’m excited to have this.

How to Use: Use after cleansing and toning. Apply the mask on face, pressing with fingertips for perfect adherence. Relax for 15-20 minutes. Gently remove the mask and massage until the essence is fully absorbed.

From Genie’s video, I discovered that this company is local to Hong Kong. This mask was included so that we could see the kinds of products could be found in Hong Kong since that is where MaskGenie is based. The original kind that was put in the pouches was a Soya Milk variety but I am super excited about the Honey Peach one! I love peach and honey is great for the skin so I actually prefer this one to the other (although I would have been happy with either). This packaging is beautiful too. Much like all the other masks, I am excited to try this one!

I am super happy with this first pouch! Being able to try out different mask brands and ingredients is so fun for me so this makes me so happy! The value (rounded down for each mask) is about $15 and then the shipping is on there as well so that isn’t bad. I think this is a wonderful service to help you try out different masks.
