Subscriptions I Would Like to Try

I will be the first person to admit that life got the better of me and I sacrificed the blog in order to take care of other things. I did really enjoy writing the blog while I was doing it. I also still receive several subscription boxes. That being said, I am going to try and start off 2017 by getting back into the blog. The topic I would like to start the year off with is one that I have written about before: subscription boxes that sound interesting to me.

If you have ever read any of my blog posts from previous years, you would know that subscription boxes are a bit of an addiction for me. I am fairly confident that if I hadn’t become so interested in them back in 2013 (I believe), than my student loans would already be paid off. That’s neither here nor there at this point though. My loans are still there and my subscriptions still make me happy so I just have to come to terms with that so here we are.

The boxes that I currently subscribe to are:

  • Ipsy
  • Luxebox
  • The Soap Box (Fortune Cookie Soap)
  • Love With Food
  • Universal Yums

I think that’s all of them? Yikes, that makes me wonder if there are more that I am forgetting about (like there need to be more, really). I am always searching for boxes that I think I would enjoy, and can afford. One of my problems is that I live in Canada. Not that living in Canada is a problem, I really do love it. However, when it comes to subscription boxes, there are 3 main obstacles for Canadians.

  1. A lot of boxes do not ship to Canada at all. There are tons of boxes that I have had my eye on that just don’t ship up here and it makes me pretty sad. I can understand why they don’t, but I have selfish interests at heart.
  2. When boxes do ship to Canada, there is usually an obscene flat rate for shipping that I am just not willing to pay. Where a box in the US will ship anywhere in the US for free, it costs $20 USD to get it to me. As a note, I am just a 2.5-3 hour drive from the border so that $20 stings even more.
  3. The current third hurdle, that has been in the way for quite awhile now, is the horrible exchange rate. While a price may look good, you get the cruel reminder on your credit card statement that the price was listed in US Dollars. Once that exchange comes through, you realize how much more you had to pay just for living in Canada.

Most of the boxes that I subscribe to are American so clearly I like them enough to take the financial hit to have them. It’s hard to make the decision to take the plunge, though, when the cost can be so high. Sometimes I will gift myself a short subscription so that I don’t have the commitment but can try it out to see if I want to fully subscribe.

I have a previous post where I wrote about the boxes I would love to try. Some of the ones I wrote about in that post were:

  • Naturebox
    • I did have a chance to try Naturebox and I was subscribed for quite awhile. This was one that was quite costly for me with the exchange rate but I did enjoy the snacks a lot. The snacks I received started to become repetitive though and it stopped being worth the money for me so I stopped receiving the service.
  • MunchPak
    • I still have not tried this one but it does still interest me. I have really been into snack boxes lately so there is still a chance that I will try this one.
  • Mystery Chocolate Box
    • I also haven’t tried this one but I am considering it in the next few months. I have gifted myself a Chococurb subscription. They will no longer be shipping to Canada but will be honouring prior purchases so once that subscription runs out, I may try Mystery Chocolate Box.

There were others but there aren’t any others that I have tried. There are some boxes that I’m planning on trying this year or that are newer on the scene than my previous post so they are the ones that I am going to talk about today.

Chococurb

For those who have never heard of Chococurb, it is a chocolate subscription box. There are two different sized boxes you can receive: Chococurb Mini ($20) or Chococurb Classic ($35). The Mini comes with 3 items each month and the Classic comes with 5-7 items each month.

I am so excited to get my first Chococurb box. I really hope that I like it but I am also going to be disappointed if I do and then after a few months won’t be able to receive this box anymore. I will be sure to post reviews of the few months that I do receive though so you can see what my thoughts are.

HandPicked

HandPicked is a relatively new subscription box, with the first box only shipping out in September of 2016. The creator of this box is a blogger named Alexia who wanted to help people discover wonderful new beauty products, thus leading to the creation of her own box! Each month, subscribers will get 5 full sized products at a cost of $39.99 plus the cost of shipping.

This box looks so good to me, with full sized, high end products. This is another box where I run into the obstacle of the exchange rate to Canadian dollars. I would absolutely love to try this box at some point so I will have to keep an eye on it in the future when I have more money. For those of you that can afford it though, I would recommend trying it. I have seen the previous boxes and they look really great to me!

La Boîte à Bonbons

This subscription box is Canadian which is something that I really appreciate. Every month they send 1 kg of assorted candies (you get to choose between soft, sour, or a mix) and it seems there are 4 different types each month. This is a box that is $25 and only ships within Canada so for my fellow Canadians, this is one for us. I am definitely intrigued by this box and I am hoping to try it out in the future.

These are just some of the boxes that are interesting me at the moment. I look forward to getting back on track and getting to write about some of these in the near future!

What are some great new subscription boxes that you guys think I should try? Let me know in the comments!

Ipsy March 2015

For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a monthly beauty subscription service. The cost is $10 per month plus $5 shipping per month to Canada. When you sign up, you take a little quiz about your preferences and details about yourself and they use that to choose appropriate products for you. Each month you will get a beautiful pink bubble mailer and inside is a cosmetics bag with the products inside. The cosmetics bag is different each month which is kind of cool! You can review products and share on social media in order to get Ipsy points which you can accumulate to buy certain products.

IMG_20150312_152203

IMG_20150312_152139

The theme for March was Floral Fantasy which I like and the bag for this month was pretty nice so I was impressed with that. Let’s see what came in my March bag!

IMG_20150312_152226

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels

Eye gels and eye masks are such a big thing right now and I really enjoy them. Everyone who got this in their glam bag received two pairs which I think is really great because it gives you a better idea of whether or not you like them. I have already tried a pair of these and I found them so refreshing! These might be my favourite eye gels out of all the ones I’ve tried to date!

A full size box contains 8 pairs and retails for $30, making these 2 pairs worth about $7.50.

IMG_20150312_152244

Acure Day Cream

Since I have so many creams lined up from my Memeboxes in the past, a day cream isn’t necessarily the most exciting thing in the world for me. I would much rather try various makeup products but it is nice to mix it up every once in awhile. I know that I have tried skincare that I’ve received in past Ipsy bags and really enjoyed them so I can’t make a snap judgement. I will definitely try this out at some point.

A full size of this is 1.75 oz and retails for $18.99, making this 1 oz sample worth about $10.86.

Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Apricot Glow

From what I can tell, this little duo was made for Ipsy but I am not 100% sure on that one. I quite like using Pixi shadows, and have a palette from them that I really enjoy. These colours are beautiful and are definitely the kinds of colours I wear on a daily basis. I have such mixed opinions on the colours I get from Ipsy. I have mostly gotten neutrals which means I end up with a lot of single shadows that are near the same colour. However, I wear those kinds of colours and if I were getting blues and greens all the time, I would be complaining that I never get wearable colours. So, that being said, I am very happy with what I have received here.

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter

I remember before I subscribed to Ipsy, I watched through so many videos of past bags. I remember seeing this Chella highlighter in some of the earlier bags, thinking it looked cool, and being a little sad that I wouldn’t ever get it because it had already been featured. Fast forward to this March bag and I got it! I quite like the effect it has, although it can be a little tough to blend. I think the colour is perfect for me and once I get the hang of how much I should be using, I will be even happier with it!

I think this might be a full size of the product, making is $18, but I could be wrong about that.

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Pops

I absolutely LOVE this lipstick. First of all, I am a bit of a lipstick junkie these days so I am super happy to have received this in my bag. There were a couple colours you could have gotten. This one, a berry-ish pink, and a brighter pink I believe. I am happy to have received this more nude shade because it is perfect for daily wear. Not only that, but it feels so lovely to wear. It goes on so smoothly and just feels lovely. This is by far my favourite item in the bag!

I’m really happy about this bag! I received quite a few items that I am pretty excited about and everything in the bag will get used so that is a success to me. The overall value of this bag was $46.36 which is pretty good so I would say it’s a win!

Ipsy February 2015

For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a monthly beauty subscription service. The cost is $10 per month plus $5 shipping per month to Canada. When you sign up, you take a little quiz about your preferences and details about yourself and they use that to choose appropriate products for you. Each month you will get a beautiful pink bubble mailer and inside is a cosmetics bag with the products inside. The cosmetics bag is different each month which is kind of cool! IMG_20150213_164954IMG_20150213_164940

Since February has Valentines Day, it makes sense that Love was the theme. I think they did a pretty good job sticking to the theme but let’s see what I got!

IMG_20150213_165201

IMG_20150213_165236

Pencil Me In Cosmetics Natural Eye Liner Pencil in Amethyst

Mehhhhh, I’m not sure how I feel about this eyeliner to be honest. I’m not opposed to coloured liners, although it takes some experiment to figure out how I want them to look. This purple is fine and I like that there is a built in sharpener. However, just swatching it on my hand felt pretty waxy and like it was pulling at my skin. I’m a little nervous to see how it applies on my eyes.

This is a full sized product and retails for $7.

IMG_20150213_165257IMG_20150213_165323

ModelCo. BLUSH Cheek Powder in Peach Bellini

I planned on waiting until after I had taken a picture of the blush to swatch it but then i accidentally took a gouge out of it with my fingernail, so look at me go! I really like this blush. I don’t really have any peachy blushes so I am happy that I got this one instead of the more pink option. I have worn this a couple times and I really like it! I think this is a nice inclusion for a Valentines Day bag.

As far as I know this is a full sized product and it retails for $22

IMG_20150213_165124

Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray

I have heard a lot of people rave about Eva NYC products and although I am not big on hair products, I will give this a try. My hair definitely does need volume because it is super fine and the longer it gets, the flatter it seems to lay around my face. This can be used when your hair is wet or dry and it’s supposed to add volume and texture. This isn’t one that I’m super excited about but I will try it.

This sample size is 1 oz. and is worth about $3. You can purchase the full size (8 oz.) for $24.

IMG_20150213_165055

CARGO Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss in Anguilla

I didn’t even think to swatch this one which was silly of me. I did try this colour on my lips and I have to say, the colour is not great for me. It is a white pink, I don’t think that’s an actual way to describe a colour but I’m doing it! I feel like this is the kind of colour that you see on someone who has their hair bleached a super white blonde and even then you think this colour is too light for them. I may be able to put this over a deeper lipstick to make the colour seem a bit better but that may take some experimenting.

The size of this vs. the full size is a little confusing but I’m thinking that this is about half the size of the full size which makes it worth about $8. The full size retails for $16.

IMG_20150213_165020

Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush 504

Now, onto my favourite item in the bag. I think that the colours on this brush are beautiful and it is so soft! The bristles are pretty dense so you have to be light handed with this one! I am so happy that I got this, love it!

This is a full sized product of course and it retails for $6.40.

Overall, I am pretty happy with this bag! The eyeliner and volumizing spray aren’t necessarily my favourite but I will use them. I love the blush and the brush, and will try to make the lip gloss work. The overall value of this bag is $46.40 which isn’t too bad.

Ipsy January 2015

For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a monthly beauty subscription service. The cost is $10 per month plus $5 shipping per month to Canada. When you sign up, you take a little quiz about your preferences and details about yourself and they use that to choose appropriate products for you. Each month you will get a beautiful pink bubble mailer and inside is a cosmetics bag with the products inside. The cosmetics bag is different each month which is kind of cool! You can review products and share on social media in order to get Ipsy points which you can accumulate to buy certain products.

I believe the theme for this month was “Fresh Start” which makes sense since it is the start of a new year. Let’s see what we got in this bag!

January 2015 Bag

The bag itself is this blue on one side and white on the other with a coral kind of zipper. It is alright, not my favourite design but it isn’t bad.

J Cat EyelinerJ Cat Eyeliner Swatch

J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Gele Eye Liner in Blue Black

Although I have been using mostly liquid liner these days, I am quite a fan of gel liners and the way that they wear. When I swatched this, it stayed put after it had set right until I pulled out the makeup remover. Even when I washed my hands and scrubbed at it with soap it didn’t move so that is nice. My complaint would be that it is blue black which isn’t as wearable for me on a daily basis but I will try it out and see if I can make it work. I am pretty happy with this product.

This is a full sized product and it retails for $5.99.

Manna Kadar Sheer Glo

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo

I tried to swatch this but really it is so sheer that it wasn’t going to show up on camera. Once it is rubbed in, it does give a shimmer when the sunlight hits it. I think that this would be really nice in the spring and summer when glowy things aren’t so out of place. I do appreciate that it is sheer and not pink toned on my skin though. I will be excited to see how this wears!

This sample size is 0.27 oz and is valued at $7.84. The full size is 1 oz and retails for $29.

Nourish Organic Eye Cream

Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream

This is a repeat from a previous Ipsy bag but not a product that I have received before so it’s not so bad. Reading through the comments about this product, it seems like people really like it so if it is a good product than that is great! It seems that this cream was not actually sold until January from the company and these were sent out before it began retailing. I believe that they have just called it a different name on the company website but that it is the same as this product. I am still going through an eye cream but I am excited to see if this is worth the hype.

From what I can tell, the product is 0.5 oz in the full size which is the size of this tube as well. If that is true, than this retails for $19.99. Very cool!

Pacfica EyeshadowPacifica Eyeshadow

Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow in Ethereal

I received the shade Ethereal and the other option for this shadow was Treasure which looks like more of a bronzed brown kind of colour. It is a little hard to see this colour in the swatch because it is so light. I think that this would make a really nice highlight colour for the inner corner of your eye or under your brow bone! I do have several highlight colours so this will probably last forever. I am intrigued by the use of coconut in the eyeshadow and can’t wait to see if that makes a difference in how it wears.

These eyeshadows are only sold in larger palettes which retail for about $14. I have divided this up and estimated that it is worth $4.67.

Real Techniques Brush

Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush

This was the product that I was most excited for in the bag this month! I have heard so much about Real Techniques brushes and have been wanting to try them but hadn’t taken the plunge. Along with this, I have been considering buying a liner brush. I did have more of an angled brush type of thing in mind but this is awesome too. I was absolutely thrilled when I pulled this out of the bag!

This is a full size product and retails for $6.

I am pretty happy with this bag. It isn’t my favourite that I have received before but it isn’t my least favourite either. I will use (or at least try) all of the products in the bag! The total retail value of the items is $44.49 which isn’t too bad either.

Ipsy December 2014

For those of you who don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a monthly beauty subscription service. The cost is $10 per month plus $5 shipping per month to Canada. When you sign up, you take a little quiz about your preferences and details about yourself and they use that to choose appropriate products for you. Each month you will get a beautiful pink bubble mailer and inside is a cosmetics bag with the products inside. The cosmetics bag is different each month which is kind of cool! You can review products and share on social media in order to get Ipsy points which you can accumulate to buy certain products.

I was kind of hoping that this would be a really exciting bag because it’s close to Christmas and I think they could have included some really awesome stuff. Let’s see what I got!

Card FrontCard Back

 December Bag

The cards for Ipsy bags are kind of useless. They don’t give you any product information, so really they are just there to tell you the theme and how to enter any contests or anything. However, the cards are of good quality so at least there’s that. The bag this month isn’t my favourite, just kind of plain. It does feel quite durable so that would be nice for any kind of travel. The outside of it it black and the inside and the zipper are a deep magenta kind of colour. I also like the little heart on the zipper that says Ipsy.

Alright, let’s see which products I got:

BWC Facial Cleanser

Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser

This cleanser is soap-free and lightly foaming, and is meant to be used for normal to oily skin. It is paraben free, pH balanced, 100% vegan-vegetarian, and is never tested on animals. I have not tried this yet because I am using another cleanser at the moment but the size is pretty good and it just has a mild, natural type scent. I have normal to dry skin so I’m hoping that this will work okay for me.

This sample size of 2 fl oz. is worth about $2.80 and the full size (8.5 fl. oz) can be purchased for $11.95.

Cailyn Mineral Eye ShadowCailyn Mineral Eye Shadow Swatch

Cailyn Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish

Subscribers who received this eye shadow got the shade Orchid. Orchid is almost an orange gold kind of colour. This eye shadow comes with an applicator wand with a sponge tip. Although I do not typically use sponge tip applicators, I do love it with this product because loose mineral shadows can make such a mess. I tried this shadow out last night and I did like it. It can apply a little heavily but it is great for a night out!

This is the full size product and it retails for $15!

Style Sexy Hair

Sexy Hair 450° Blow Out Heat Defense Blow Dry Spray Mini

This spray is said to protect your hair from temperatures up to 450°. It is also supposed to condition to help create smooth, sleek styles, detangle, and strengthen your hair. It is meant to decrease blow dry time and add shine. I am not super excited to receive hair products normally because I don’t typically use product in my hair. I also blow dry my hair very rarely and when I do it does not take too long to dry it all. I haven’t tried this out yet so we will see how it works out.

This mini size product is 1.7 fl oz. and can be purchased for $8. The full size of the product is 4.2 fl oz. and can be purchased for $18.95.

NYX Butter Balm

NYX Butter Lip Balm

Subscribers could have received this lip balm in the shades Red Velvet (pure red), Parfait (fuchsia with blue undertones), Marshmallow (pure nude), or Lady Fingers (mauve). This balm is supposed to leave your lips feeling supple and hydrated. It is also supposed to add a subtle hint of colour.

I got the shade Marshmallow and when I first saw it, I was so excited because I thought that was the scent/flavour of the balm. Unfortunately, it was the name of the colour. I would have rather had any of the other colours because this is far too brown for my skin tone. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to use this for a wash of colour.

This is a full size product that retails for $4.

Tarte Mascara

Tarte Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara

This black mascara is supposed to lengthen, curl, volumize and condition your lashes. They promise a 330% increase in lash volume instantly. It is also meant to nourish and protect your lashes. I have purchased this mascara before and really did like it so I am happy to have it again

This sample size is 3 mL and is worth about $10.30. The full size (7 mL) can be purchased for $24.

At first I wasn’t too excited by this bag, but when I looked at the other products that I could have gotten and I think I probably got the best of the bunch. So although I am not super excited about this bag, I’m glad I got the things that I did. The approximate value of this bag is $40.

Ipsy November 2014

Ipsy was my first subscription service. I have received about 6 months worth of bags and I still love it. Although the value isn’t always sky high for these bags, I prefer looking at it in terms of “will I use it?” and “does this excite me?” I found this months bag to be one of the most exciting ones for me yet.

Let’s dive right in!

admin-ajax

This months bag is a silver glittery bag with a pink zipper. The bag itself has a plastic feel. The inside is black and the tag for this month says Forever 21 Cosmetics for Ipsy. This was interesting to me, even though it is not my favourite bag that I’ve gotten from Ipsy.

admin-ajax (1)

The theme this month is Girl Meets Glitter.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

I received this concealer in neutral medium which is a tad dark for me but I think that I can make it work. It claims to be a full coverage, waterproof, anti-aging concealer that is “8 hours of sleep in a tube.” It also claims that it won’t crease or crack.

If I had to choose one thing that was my biggest concern for me, it would be my dark circles. Mine are genetic so they are impossible to actually cover up or get rid of. It is because of this that I love trying out new concealers to try and find my holy grail product. This concealer is super thick so I am really excited to try it and interested in seeing whether or not it does crease or crack.

This sample size of .11 fl oz is worth about $9.50 and the full size (.28 fl oz) can be purchased for $24.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray

Mehhhh. This is the one thing in the bag that I’m not all that excited about to be honest. I have really fine hair so I steer clear of product most of the time so that my hair isn’t weighed down. I will use this on the rare occasion where I curl my hair and hopefully it won’t be a crunchy hairspray. The smell is like a typical hairspray which, as most of us know, isn’t the most delicious smell in the world.

The full size of this product is 9 oz and sells for $8.29. That makes this 1.5 oz sample about $1.38 which isn’t all that impressive to be honest (not to sound selfish or anything).

Starlooks Lip Gloss

Subscribers that received this lip gloss got the colour Guilty Pleasure. I am pretty sure this went out in October’s bag too so I’m not sure if they just had extra or if it is a really great product. I do like the colour of this, it is a nice neutral pink that would be great for everyday use. It is a little bit sticky but overall I think I will like this lip gloss.

This sample is .3 oz. The full size sells for $13 but I can’t find a size for that full size so I’m not sure how much this sample is worth. Let’s just guess around $4.

admin-ajax (7)

SeaRx Micro-Dermabrasion Face & Body Scrub for Preventative Aging

This scrub is said to feature minerals and extracts to improve your skin tone and leave your skin firmer after taking off all the dead skin cells and what not. I am a big fan of scrubs so I was excited to see this in my bag. Just trying a little on my hand, the grit is very small and probably wouldn’t be safe for daily use. It smells like grapefruity citrus which I love so woohoo!

This sample size is .3 oz and would sell for about $3. The full size is 100 g and can be purchased for $32. I am excited to try this!

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base

This shade is called Submissive and I think it is absolutely beautiful! It reminds me of a less glittery version of the sand brown shadow that I got from The Face Shop in my Memebox. This is a cream shadow and it is definitely very creamy! I don’t own any other cream shadows so I am glad to have this one, especially in such a neutral colour!

This is the full sized product and it sells for $14 so that is quite exciting!

Overall I am really excited about this bag! The value of the bag isn’t very high, at about $31.53, but I will get a lot of use out of the products. Very excited!

Keep Your Eyes Peeled: Upcoming Unboxings

Over the next couple of months, I know that I will be receiving several boxes. A couple of these boxes I get on a regular basis, and some I have ordered. For the most part, they are all super exciting and I am going crazy knowing I have to wait for them!! If you are interested in unboxings, here is a little heads up for what you will be seeing on here.

Monthly Boxes

Topbox

Topbox is a Canadian subscription service similar to Ipsy and Birchbox. It costs $10 a month plus tax and shipping is included in this price (only for Canadians, sorry!). Each Topbox comes with 4 sample size or full size products. Topbox ships on the 15th of every month and is pretty quick to ship. You do have to request an invitation for Topbox and once that is emailed to you (could take a couple of months), you have 24 hours to subscribe before the invitation expires.

You will be seeing this unboxing post in November but unfortunately this will be my last Topbox. I have only received 3 months worth but did not feel that I was getting my moneys worth from the products I was receiving. Don’t get me wrong, these products may really excite someone else. I found that I got almost no makeup products, and almost all skincare. Skincare products are great but makeup is really what I prefer so I decided to cancel this one.

Ipsy

Ipsy was the very first subscription service that I received. I have been subscribed for about 5 or 6 months now and I still LOVE it! For those who don’t know, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service in which you receive 4-6 products that can be makeup, skincare, or hair care related. It costs $10 a month as well but us Canadians have to pay an extra $5 per month for shipping. Each of these bags comes in a makeup bag that you can keep so that is a really nice little touch.

What you get in your Ipsy bag can be based on a couple of things. When you subscribe, you fill out a little questionnaire that tells them your hair colour, skin colour, eye colour, and other things that can help shape your preferences. Along with this, you can review each item when you get your bag, so that over time your bags become more customized with your preferences (for certain brands, products, colours, etc.).

You can also get Ipsy points for things like reviewing your products, referring people, sharing what you got on social media, etc. Ipsy is a service that I cannot see myself cancelling anytime soon and I look forward to sharing my bags with you. If you would like to sign up using my referral link (to help feed my addiction) than you can do so here http://www.ipsy.com/r/c762?sid=ipsypoints&cid=general. You certainly do not have to use it and if you just want to sign up without my link you can use the link below to get to Ipsy 🙂

Quarterly

The Soap Box

Although this is only my second blog post, if you have read the first than you will already know that I am obsessed with Fortune Cookie Soap. The Soap Box is their monthly subscription service. The prices for this box are $20 for US residents, $28 for Canadian residents, and $34 for International residents. The charge is taken out every 3 months from the time you first subscribe and the box is delivered quarterly (one for each seasons line).

Each season the company comes out with a new line of products and the Soap Box provides one product for each scent in the new line. Each box comes with 2 full size products (the fortune cookie soap and the OCD hand sanitizer) and the rest are usually sample sizes. The products can range from soap, body wash, wax tarts, perfume oils, and many other things. With these seasonal launches, the different scents are available in many different products so if you receive a soap and love the scent but not that soap, you may be able to get the scent in a different product. Each box also comes with a unique $10 coupon code (these can only be used once so don’t share it with your friends, unless you want to of course!).

I absolutely LOVE this box (it may be my favourite subscription) and do not plan on cancelling it anytime soon (or ever if I can help it). The next Soap Box ships on November 3 so my unboxing should be up in the middle of November.

Non-Subscription Beauty Boxes

Memebox

My latest obsession has been Memebox. I haven’t received one yet but I have managed to order 5 boxes and have watched/read countless unboxings and reviews. When I say obsessed, I mean it!

If you have not heard of Memebox, it is a Korean beauty box that contains a variety of skin care, makeup, and other beauty products. There are several types of boxes, including: memeboxes, superboxes, nakedboxes, and boxes that are set around a particular theme. The prices vary depending on the type of box that you get and can range from $15-$80 I believe. Most of the regular boxes are $23 and then you also have to pay $6.99 shipping for each box. You have to keep an eye on the shipping dates for each box because it can be months away, that way you aren’t frustrated wondering why the shipping takes so long. Sometimes if boxes are due to ship at the same time, they will have bundles so that there is only one shipping cost.

These are the 5 boxes that are coming to me in the next couple of months:

Princess Edition #5- Tinkerbell

She cast a magical spell on us to create this Tink inspired beauty box, full of all things shimmery and glittery from head to toe! Adorn yourself with sheer, lightweight shimmery makeup and body goodies that will give you a subtle fairy-dusted look!

Add a touch of glitter to eyes and lips for an understated, yet beautiful eye-catching shine, or go all out and amp up the intensity with sparkle flecked shimmers! You choose! Follow the fairy trend and highlight and illuminate your body and face (minus the excessive shine!) with pearl-based luminizers that give you an enchanting glow!

Shimmer and glitter in makeup can be overwhelming, but with the help of our fabulous Memeboxers and Tink herself, we created this Tinkerbell Box for all day, everyday wear! (image and description taken from us.memebox.com)

When I originally looked at the title and picture for this box, I did not think I would be interested in it. However, when I read through the description, I got really excited about it. I do not own a highlighter (although I really should) or anything like that so this sounded really cool to me! This box retails for $29 plus the $6.99 shipping and starts shipping on November 11.

Hold on. Let’s all take a second to open up our makeup bags and inspect what is going on in that jungle we call our makeup bag. If you’re like us, it’s most likely overflowing with old mascara, cracked eyeshadows, dry lipsticks…and a long list of stuff that should have been thrown out last month.

Updating your look doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Give your makeup stand a good cleaning, and fill it up with the best K-Beauty makeup products of 2014! Brimming with top quality skin perfectors, eye makeup essentials, lip loves, and much, much more, this will be the BEST makeup box you will ever receive in your life. We promise. I was drawn to this box right away. Probably because I am a makeup junkie and have a hard time resisting a deal like this. I had already bought the colorbox bundle (coming up) and had decided not to buy anymore. The shipping date for those ones is so far away though so I gave in and bought the Tinkerbell box and this one. This box cost the regular $23 plus the $6.99 shopping and starts shipping on December 10.

Colorbox Bundle

Each of these boxes regularly costs $15 but the bundle allowed me to purchase all 3 for the price of 2 ($30) as well as having one low shipping price of $6.99. Usually you would have to pay that shipping price for each individual box so this was a steal. Not only that, but the bundle allowed me to get the express shipping for the price of regular shipping so I’m so excited! The shipping for this bundle starts on December 16 so I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t get to me until after Christmas.

The bundle included these three boxes:

Colorbox #4 Electric Brights

Neutral shades are timeless, and coral lipsticks are flattering, but now is the time to turn up the notch with bold, electric colors!

New innovations and crisp colors makes these bold-colored goodies wearable for daily application – and so much more gorgeous, especially when you want to highlight a particular feature of your face. Or, wear these dashing colors with an otherwise neutral face for powerful dose of beautiful color!

Dare to explore the rainbow with electric, vivid, crazy-colorful beauty essentials that will get you from plain Jane to party princess in no time! (image and description taken from us.memebox.com)

Of the three colorboxes, I have to say this is the one that scares me the most. I love makeup but I generally go towards more neutral colours. “Electric Brights” sounds scary to me and I’m not sure if I will be able to use the products but I am willing to try. Not only this but I knew I wanted the other 2 colorboxes so it wouldn’t make sense to pay the same price for 2 of them when I could have all 3 without paying any more.

Whether you consider yourself fair, medium, olive, dark, or anywhere in between, this box full of rich, saturated jewel hued goodies that are universally flattering and will look good on virtually everyone!

Think dark wine reds, deep purples, gorgeous emeralds, and more decadent jewel tones – this beauty box will satisfy your every chromatic whim. Sneak some of these precious stone tones into your fall season makeup and beauty for your chicest look ever! (image and description taken from us.memebox.com)

I am excited for this box! I think that jewel tone colours are beautiful and even though I don’t have much experience with them, I would love to try some out. I think that this box could really deliver some amazing products!

Thinking pastel shades are for wallflowers? So cliché. This season, Jordan-almond pastel colors have gone totally badass and totally edgy!

Wear these universally flattering pastel perfections on the eyes, lips, and face to brighten up the complexion and add a mouthwatering punch of color! Depending on how much you layer on, you can go from girl-next-door to full on vamp for a wide range of looks! With a pinkish pout, soft pastel eyes, a simple wash of color on the face, there’s virtually no room for error! We’ll show you how!

This is the colorbox that I am most excited about!! I think they could find some beautiful lip and cheek colours for this box and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

These are all of the boxes that I know to be expecting soon although I’m sure Memebox will release some other boxes that I “have to have” before too long. I am so excited to get these boxes and share them with you!! If you subscribe to any boxes, what are your favourites? Let me know in the comments!
