Memebox Collaboration #9 Soothing Sista

Soothing Sista

Soothing Sista knows how to rock a look. Most often found on the streets of San Francisco, she is taking the YouTube world by storm with her skincare, makeup, and fashion tutorials. Showcasing looks for the edgier goddess in you, Soothing Sista, isn’t afraid to take a risk. She’s hand-picked hottest skincare and makeup products of the month straight from Korea, which we’re sure you’ll love!

If you have not heard of Memebox, it is a Korean beauty box that contains a variety of skin care, makeup, and other beauty products. There are several types of boxes, including: memeboxes, superboxes, nakedboxes, and boxes that are set around a particular theme. The prices vary depending on the type of box that you get and can range from $15-$80 I believe. Most of the regular boxes are $23 and then you also have to pay $6.99 shipping for each box. You have to keep an eye on the shipping dates for each box because it can be months away, that way you aren’t frustrated wondering why the shipping takes so long. Please be aware that Memebox will no longer be shipping internationally. They will only ship to addresses in China, Korea, and the USA as of February 10 2015.

I picked this box up in a restock and I was glad it came up because it was on my wish list. When this box was originally released, I knew what was inside it and I considered purchasing it but that was before I was really on the Memebox bandwagon. Afterwards though, I was reading blog posts about it and regretted not buying it! I was happy to be able to get my hands on it.

Vicioni Super Aqua Soothing Serum 30ml ($29)

No carbomer, no silicon, no artificial ingredients, and no chemical preservatives whatsoever. It’s true that Vicioni Super Aqua Soothing Serum may smell less than pleasant and not as quick to absorb as that of other brands. However, this is because Vicioni takes great care in selecting only skin beneficial, non-chemical ingredients for its 100% natural formula. It contains high concentrates of ‘caulerpa racemosa’ (also known as ‘sea grape and rich in sea minerals, vitamins, and nutrients), rice bran, hyaluronic acid, mushroom ferments, aloe vera, etc. The ocean will deeply replenish, brighten up, and smoothen dry, dulled complexion.

This sounds wonderful! I don’t have a serum on the go at the moment so I will definitely be putting this to good use. I am a little concerned about the fact that they say it smells less than pleasant considering it will be all over my face. I haven’t used it yet so I’m not sure how it actually smells but we will find out soon enough. Not related to how the product works, I love the packaging of this serum. I think it’s absolutely beautiful! I look forward to trying this out.

Tonymoly Egg Pore Blackhead Steam Balm 30g ($11)

A self-heating steam balm that opens up clogged pores by warming the skin with its blend of sulfur hot spring water and heating agent the more you massage it onto face. Then 3 kinds of scrubs – white salt, charcoal powders, and egg yolk – work to thoroughly remove all blackheads, whiteheads, and dead skin cells piled up inside enlarged pores. Rich in calcium, various minerals, acetic acid, amino acid, and vitamins, it also delivers deep nourishment, control excess sebum, and prevent skin dehydration.

How to Use: Apply the steam balm over nose area. (Make sure to towel-dry after cleansing) Gently massage for 3-5 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water when the translucent oil balm turns opaque. Recommended to be used once or twice a week.

I am definitely drawn to this because I love clearing out my pores. I’m aware that this is a super weird thing to say but I said it so it’s out there now. I’m not quite sure how this works, it is more like a cream or like a grommage kind of peeling action but I am excited to try it out! I have such a hard time deciding every day which types of masks to use and this will just be added to the pile of indecision.

Shara Shara Mineral Capsule Cream 50ml ($18)

This Miracle Capsule Cream is an anti-wrinkle moisturizer enriched with glacier water and nourishing capsules containing 24 kinds of oil complex. Deliver instant moisture surge and supple firmness to dry, tired face as if letting the skin take a rejuvenating winter sleep! It will take care of dry patches and protect from external damages by locking in moisture within skin.

I haven’t opened this because I still have creams on the go so I don’t want to expose this to the air just yet. For whatever reason, the inclusion of glacial water just makes it sound so nice and refreshing. My skin is kind of normal to dry so this will be really nice! I have tried the Shara Shara balm and really like it so I’m sure I will like this too!

Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Primer Essence 20ml ($11)

Quickly minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines and help makeup adhere better for a long-lasting finish. The silky, lightweight formula can be worn under makeup to fill in uneven skin texture and visible pores, creating a smoother-than-smooth canvas and mattifying excessive oil and shine. Its gently formula consists of both sebum control powder and moisturizing essence component, thus is works to control excess sebum while maintaining a healthy moisture balance at the same time.

I have yet to find my holy grail primer and I am hoping that this might be it! My problem is that I have large pores and so foundations and BB creams settle right into my pores and it just looks awful. Other people may not notice it unless they are right up close but it is on my mind! I would love to have this actually settle into my pores so my makeup can sit smoothly on top. Maybe this is just wishful thinking but we will see how it measures up!

Dewytree Deep Detox Black Mask 1ea ($3)

A facial mask that clarifies skin pores and rejuvenates dull skin with volcanic scoria clay from Jeju Island containing rare minerals. It’s also formulated with charcoal powder, papaya extracts, grapefruit extracts, walnut shell powder, and centella asiatica extracts to detoxify and revitalize the skin.

How to Use: Wash your face and remove makeup and any environmental toxins. Gently unfold mask and place on your face, adjust the eyes, nose and mouth opening. Relax for 15-20 minutes with the mask in place. No need to rinse, massage remaining product into your face.

Ever since I have been involved with Memebox, I have been intrigued by these black masks. They have such nice sounding ingredients in them and people seem to really enjoy using them. I haven’t tried this yet but I do know they look absolutely horrific when they are on your face since the sheet mask itself is black. I find it pretty funny but if you are walking around your house with it on, you may scare your family.

Vivito Painting Matte Finish Lip Stick 1ea ($30)

A 3-effect matte lipstick that smoothly glides on with a creamy texture, steins lips with a highly pigmented, radiant colour in just a single swipe, and leaves lips velvety soft and super matte without being dry and flaky.

I am obsessed with this lipstick. There were 5 possible options: RD01 Sour Red, RD02 Red Sun, RD03 Red Ribbon, PP01 Raspberry Purple, PP02 Orchid Purple. I was kind of hoping for the Raspberry Purple but I got Red Sun. I was a little disappointed at first but after wearing this, I love it! This is a pink toned red and it wears so nicely! It definitely does not feel drying and the colour looks beautiful. I have already been looking online to see if I can get other colours at a decent price. If you know of anywhere, let me know in the comments!

Revecen Blooming Collagentox Sleeping Water Pack 90ml ($18)

A nourishing sleeping facial pack formulated with snail mucus extracts, bird nest extracts, aloe vera leaf extracts, orange zests, Japanese prickly ash berries, pasque flower extracts, usnea extracts, and cypress water. Yellow vitamin capsules will absorb deep into skin to replenish, firm up and balance out uneven skin tone.

I have quite the collection of sleeping packs. At the rate I actually use them, I may never go through all of the ones that I have stashed away. The packaging of this sleeping pack is quite nice, I definitely wouldn’t mind having it sitting on my vanity. There are so many really interesting ingredients in this one, namely bird nest extracts. What does that even mean? Very interesting indeed. I look forward to trying this one!

I am so happy that I was able to get my hands on this box! It sold out really quickly during the restock and some people were refunded for theirs so I am glad that I was one of the lucky ones who got it. I paid $21 for this box plus $6.99 for shipping and the retail value for the products is $120. This is definitely one of the best boxes that I have purchased!!

Sorry I don’t have any coupon codes for you but if you would like to check out their website and make a purchase (until February 10 for everybody or anytime for China, Korea, and US residents), than you can do so at

Project Pan 2015

So, recently I have become obsessed with watching Project Pan Youtube videos (don’t ask me why). It made me think that with the new year, I may want to do my own Project Pan through 2015. With any luck, I will remember to do either monthly or bimonthly updates so you can see how far I have gotten.

It’s not that I have a massive collection of make up but with my subscription boxes and holiday gifts, I have a lot of things that are going to be pushed to the side. I want to make sure that I use up my older products so that I don’t end up having to trash all of them. Since I am giving myself a full year for this, I have a huge list of about 35 (maybe?) products to try and finish! I know that I won’t be able to finish all of them. Some will be easy to finish and others will not so for some I would at least like to make some good progress!

Now to introduce the products that will be featured in Project Pan 2015!

Revlon Honey

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Honey

This is a nice neutral lip colour and these lip pencils wear quite nicely. I bought a few colours a few years ago but have kind of gotten away from using them. I think this will be the easiest of the Revlon colours to use up.

Revlon Sweetheart

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Sweetheart

This pencil is quite a bright pink. I think I will have to wait until the spring/summer to start using this more. Just like the Honey pencil, this colour wears fairly well so I won’t mind trying to use it up.

Revlon Romantic

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Romantic

This is a nice sheer red colour that can be built up. I tend to wear it as a more sheered out colour so it will take a little while to get through it. I think I can pull this off all year though so hopefully I will be able to get through it.

Covergirl Marble

Covergirl Nature Luxe Gloss Balm in Marble

If I make sure that I am using this balm regularly than it shouldn’t be a problem at all getting through it. It is discontinued now, and I have had it for a few years so I really need to get through it. This applies as a sheer pink so it is easy to wear all the time.

The Face Shop Strawberry Jam

The Face Shop Dessert Lip Balm in Strawberry Jam

This was another Memebox acquisition. I don’t mind this but find it more of a gloss kind of consistency than a balm. It isn’t bad but it’s not my favourite. I may be able to use it as my post teeth brushing balm but I will have to see.

NYX Apple Strudel

NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel

I really do love these Butter Glosses. I got this particular colour in my first Ipsy bag and I liked it so much that I bought a couple of other colours. I am just trying to clear out some space in my lip collection so I would like to use these up. This one is a light peachy pink.

NYX Eclair

NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair

Once again, really like the formula of these glosses, I am just trying to declutter my collection a little bit. Eclair is a nice neutral pink.

NYX Peaches & Cream

NYX Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream

This is the last of my Butter Glosses. It is the same as the others, I am just making space in my collection. Peaches and Cream is a pinkish coral colour.

The Body Shop Peach

The Body Shop Lip Gloss in Vineyard Peach

I bought this to qualify for some kind of deal at The Body Shop. I can’t quite remember what the deal was but I thought that Peach would be nice. It isn’t too bad. For the most part I actually forget I have it which isn’t a great thing. I am going to make a conscious effort to try and use this up.

GOSH White

GOSH Eyeshadow in White

I bought this from a sale bin at Shopper’s Drug Mart so many years ago that I can’t quite remember how long ago it was. It probably isn’t just called White but I can’t see the colour name anymore. The problem is that I only use it as a brow bone and inner corner highlight so it doesn’t get used up very quickly. I hit pan a little while ago so I am hoping that through this year I can really make some progress with it.

Rimmel Jet Black

Rimmel Kohl Pencil in Jet Black

I used to use this as my primary eye pencil all the time. Then I got into liquid liners and haven’t really touched this since then. It has maybe a little over half left so I am hoping I can tight line with it and use it up before too long.

L'Oreal Pure Espresso

L’Oreal Color Riche Pencil in Pure Espresso

I bought this right before I started using liquid liners so it has hardly been used. I may do the same thing with this as the Rimmel and use it to tight line.

Pacifica Fringe

Pacifica Natural Eye Pencil in Fringe

I got this eye pencil in an Ipsy bag and I honestly don’t love the colour. It is a sort of reddish brown which I haven’t quite figured out how to make work for me yet. Thankfully it isn’t a full sized pencil so there is less to work through.

Falsies Blackest Black

Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Blackest Black

I love this mascara, I have just gotten caught up with samples I keep getting. I have other mascaras waiting to be opened but I need to try and use this up a little bit before I get into those.

Falsies Brownish Black

Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Brownish Black

I tend to wear my brownish mascaras more in the spring/summer when everything feels a bit lighter so I haven’t been using this for awhile. I should try and use it for low key days or even some work days.

Falsies Flared

Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara in Very Black

My mom gave me this one and I haven’t tried it yet, hopefully I will like it and will be able to get through it.

Benefit Erase Paste

Benefit Erase Paste in Fair

This isn’t my favourite concealer. I have terrible hereditary dark circles so I am constantly on the hunt to find a concealer that will cover them up a little bit. I have used a bunch of this but don’t love it. I will force myself to use it but won’t be thrilled about it.

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in #2

This is similar to the Erase Paste in its history with me. In hindsight, I’m pretty sure I bought the wrong colour for this so that doesn’t help. I also find this concealer a bit goopy which I don’t love. I have hit pan on this so hopefully I will be able to finish it within the year.

Nivea Night Care

Nivea Moisturizing Night Care

This is the night cream that I used for a really long time. There isn’t anything wrong with it and I had just bought a new one when I got my first Memeboxes. In these boxes there were new creams that I started trying right away. I loved the Korean creams way more but don’t want to waste the cream I already had opened. I am just using this until it runs out so I can go back to using that other cream.

Derma E BB Creme

Derma E BB Creme in Light Tint

This came in an Ipsy bag I believe and I don’t mind it. I find that the product pills a little on my face but that may be my face cream interacting badly with it. I will be interested in experimenting to see the best way to apply this. I think I will be able to finish this by the end of the year.

The Face Shop Pink Cushion

The Face Shop Blusher in Pink Cushion

I kind of hate this colour to be honest. It is a bit bubblegum pinkish and I find it hard to blend out. I am hoping there isn’t much in this pan so it doesn’t take too long to get through. I will probably wait until spring/summer to wear it so it doesn’t look too light.

How Bout Them Apples Pie

The Balm How ‘Bout Them Apples? in Pie

This is a teeny sample that came in either my Ipsy or Topbox, I can’t quite remember. I think it might have been my Topbox. Since it is so small, it shouldn’t take me too long to get through.

ELF Mineral Blemish Powder

ELF Mineral Blemish Powder in Clear

I haven’t been using this and there is a ton left. I think I might use it as a translucent powder when I use the BB Creme.

BBW Strawberry Sparkler

Bath and Body Works Shower Gel in Strawberry Sparkler

I have had this shower gel for absolute ages. Proabably 2 years at least. I got it as a Christmas present and just keep forgetting I have it. I need to use it up because I feel bad just leaving it sitting in the cabinet forever.

                      Beetle Breath FrontBeetle Breath Back

Fortune Cookie Soap Mist Me in Beetle Breath

This came as part of my Third Time’s the Charm collection bundle. I don’t mind the scent, it is a kind of carnival scent with popcorn. It just isn’t my preferred scent for daytime wear. I typically spray myself with it before bed so that is good. I just hope I can finish it off. I have marked the current fill line and I will update this with each of my update posts.

Lush Lemony Flutter

LUSH Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

I bought this while we were on vacation in May because my cuticles were a mess. I don’t actually like using it for my cuticles but rather my feet. I cover my feet in this and then put socks over top. I do like this cream but I’m not sure I would repurchase.

The Face Shop Hand Cream

The Face Shop Hand Cream

I don’t love the scent of this and I find it can take awhile to absorb into my skin. Most of the times I want to use it are when I’m on my laptop and don’t want to get my keyboard all greasy so I end up just not using it. The container is fairly small so if I try hard than it shouldn’t take too long to get through it.

Fortune Cookie Soap Perfume Oil in Swankified

I received this perfume oil from FCS because they had accidentally scent me the unscented version of the walnut scrub. Normally it is in the Swankified scent so they scent me this to scent the scrub and then keep the rest of the oil to use as a perfume oil. I actually do prefer the scent when it is mixed with my body chemistry. It smells like banana bread which is great but it’s another one I don’t prefer for daytime wear. I am going to use it as my pre-bed perfume. It is hard to see in this picture but on the left hand side at the top of the label, I have marked this fill line with black marker. This will be easier to see as the volume decreases.

There's No Place Like Home

Fortune Cookie Soap Perfume Oil in There’s No Place Like Home

We got this scent in the FCS cookie for the fall box and I absolutely loved it. However, as a perfume oil it wasn’t my favourite. I’ve been using it to scent my bath water so it shouldn’t take me long to finish this off. The fill line on this one is easier to see, it is just left of the witches hat. This one is obviously a lot lower than the Swankified perfume oil.

Nivea Soft

Nivea Soft Lotion

I bought this after trying some that a coworker had and I loved it! However, right after I bought this, I got into FCS and bought a bunch of their whipped creams so this lotion got a little bit forgotten. I will start using it as my post-shower lotion until it is gone.

KMS Free Shape

KMS Free Shape

This is a spray for thermal protection and quicker blow drying. I very, very rarely blow dry my hair so it has been sitting around since I got it. I may make a point of using it just as a thermal spray. The fill line can be seen on this bottle too.

John Frieda Frizz Ease

John Frieda Secret Weapon

I got this in my Fall 2014 Sample Source box and it is a decent sized sample. It is used to tame frizz on straight hair so I could get some use out of it, I just need to make an effort to use it.

Pantene Age Defy

Pantene Age Defy

I really prefer to not use products in my hair because my hair is fine and can be easily weighed down. Mom got this as a sample and gave it to me, it is supposed to give you more volume. It is just a sample size so I will give it a try.

BBW Lilac Blossom

Bath and Body Works Room Spray in Lilac Blossom

I love the scent of this spray but it is very strong so I prefer to use it in the spring/summer when the windows are open and things are more breezy. I have sprayed this before and my mom thought she somehow hadn’t noticed that our lilac trees had blossomed so it is a very realistic scent. I’ve had it for a couple years so I would like to get through it.

BBW Flannel

Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Flannel

I got this candle for my birthday this year. I’m not sure if it is one that I would have picked up for myself but I do really like the scent. My family is quite scent sensitive so I can’t burn it for too long at a time because it is quite strong. I would describe this as a kind of manly, woodsy scent.

BBW Cranberry Woods

Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candle in Cranberry Woods

This was another birthday gift this year. I have had this scent before and I like it quite a bit. Once again, I can only burn this for little bits at a time because my family is sensitive to scents.

Woodwick Pumpkin Butter

Woodwick 22 oz. Candle in Pumpkin Butter

I have had this candle for forever, at least a couple of years. I really do love this candle. I love the scent and the woodwick aspect of it. It has a burn time of about 120 hours and I am nowhere near being done with it.

I am hoping to finish off a lot of these products and get really far with the rest. Hopefully writing updates for this project will hold me accountable in meeting my goal!

Memebox Colorbox #6 Pastel Hues

Thinking pastel shades are for wallflowers? So cliché. This season, Jordan-almond pastel colours have gone totally badass and totally edgy! Wear these universally flattering pastel perfections on the eyes, lips, and face to brighten up the complexion and add a mouthwatering punch of colour! Depending on how much you layer on, you can go from girl-next-door to full on vamp for a wide range of looks! With a pinkish pout, soft pastel eyes, a simple wash of colour on the face, there’s virtually no room for error! We’ll show you how!

Sometimes if boxes are due to ship at the same time, they will have bundles so that there is only one shipping cost.

I bought the Colorbox bundle which included the Electric Brights, Jewel Tones, and Pastel Hues all for $30 plus shipping. With a coupon code and a couple of points, it ended up costing me about $32 for the lot. This came out to just under $11 per box which is great. This bundle was also the first Memebox purchase I made, so the shipping date was months from when I ordered it. This is the Pastel Hues box which I liked the sound of. I was hoping there would be a nice light lipstick or something like that.

Pastel Hues Box

Pastel Hues Card FrontPastel Hues Card Back

Let’s see what we have!

Revecen Lip Gloss

Revecen Moisture Shine Lip Gloss 7 ml ($16)

Enriched with olive oil, this Moisture Shine Lip Gloss in sheer pink and orange shades create delicately glittering and plump lips while leaving lips super moist and supply without being sticky at all.

The colour choices for this product were #02 Peach Orange and #11 Apricot Pink. I got #11 Apricot Pink which I was happy about because it is the less orange shade. I have recently gotten the White version of this gloss and it really isn’t sticky at all so that’s nice. I have so many glosses on the go at the moment so this probably won’t be used for awhile.

Revecen Eye Shadow

Revecen Color Eye Shadow 3.1g ($10)

Formulated with various moisturizing minerals. Revecen’s Color eye Shadows are highly adhesive, water-proof, smudge-proof and produce rich pigment payoff with a long-lasting silky touch. To be worn alone or blend in with complimentary shades.

I got the shade B102 Pearl Light Salmon but you could have also gotten B167 Pearl Turquoise. I am glad that I got the pink shade because I wouldn’t know how to wear a pastel turquoise. I tried to swatch this and the lip gloss but neither showed up too well on camera. This is a fairly light pink so it might be a nice base or blending colour.

Revecen Star PowderRevecen Star Powder Swatch

Revecen Perfect Star Powder 3g ($11)

Designed with the perfect mix of colour and shine, the Perfect Star Powder creates dramatic light-catching effects and brings instant sophistication to any makeup look. Layer it on top of contrasting eye shadow colours to create unique multi-dimensional effects, or use it alone for instant elegance!

This is another one that is fairly messy because it is a loose powder. I got the colour #08 Yellow and the other options were #03 Pink, #10 Light Brown, and #14 Ivory. The yellow looked a little intimidating at first but its more of a gold kind of shade so I think it is something I can work with fairly well. I am happy with this product.

Revecen Face Control FoundationRevecen Face Control Foundation Swatch

Revecen Face Control Foundation 17g ($22)

This unique Face Control Foundation works to cover up skin imperfections and light up dull, darkened skin tone for a more refined, evenly balanced, and healthier-looking finish. Plus it contains natural preservatives such as green tea extracts and magnolia extracts, and thus gently and suitable for all skin types.

How to Use: Use a makeup sponge or your finger to apply the hard-type foundation evenly over your face. Make sure to pat it in for full absorbance.

I got the colour #000 Light Yellow but could have also gotten #001 Mint. I am glad I didn’t get the mint because green counteracts redness which isn’t really an issue for me. Yellow is supposed to help with purple colouring and I have terrible hereditary dark circles so I am interested in seeing if this helps hide those at all. I know that the purple version of this product was one of the ones in the Cutiepie Marzia 2 box which everyone hates so much, so I’m surprised they went with this type of product from the same brand again.

Overally, I think that this is the colorbox that stuck the most to the theme they described. I don’t love Revecen as a brand but I will get use out of the products (at least to try) so we will see how it goes. This was the box with the lowest retail value, coming in at $59. I am glad I have gotten Memeboxes since I ordered this because if I was only basing my opinion of them on these boxes, I would be disappointed.
